    Radio repeat (SVP LCS600)

    Heya folks,

I'm looking at an SVP LCS600 from 911lights.com. Love SVP visual warning products, never used any audible warning (don't have the ability to run a siren).

Has anyone wired one of these up? I'm particularly interested in the radio repeat feature. I have both a Uniden BCT15x and a Yaesu FTM-350AR that I'd like to be able to hook up so they can be made audible outside the truck. Did some searching but didn't find much.

Also: any recommendations on speaker location? As I mentioned the important feature to me is the radio repeat. Here is what I'm working with:
    2012 Chevy Silverado POV (fire/EMS)

Is there a less expensive solution for radio repeat (less expensive speaker maybe)? I'm not sure I particularly care about the PA/air horn.

    Thanks.
    Ben

OK, a couple of issues here. You would need at least a 100 watt speaker if you are going to do radio rebroadcast using the siren amp. As for hooking both a scanner AND a radio to the SVP unit, DON'T DO IT! You will blow out either one of, or both, of your radios. The way to hook one of them up is to use the external speaker leads from either radio and connect them to the input leads utilized for the radio rebroadcast. As for using a "cheaper speaker", you can simply buy a cheap PA speaker from Radio Shack and wire it to either radio with a switch to turn it on and off, but I can guarantee that it won't be anywhere near as loud as it would be with the SVP amp.

We did a similar setup for a customer with 2 radios and a scanner. We used a three position switch on the dash to select between the audio sources. I think we figured out a way to feed all the audio in at once, but the customer preferred having the switch.

Yes, a switch would be perfectly acceptable. Considering one source is fire/EMS and the other is amateur radio, it is unlikely that I would want/need both simultaneously (at least, outside the truck).

There is a way to do it using polarized resistors, but I figured that if I went down that road it might be a whole different conversation.
