Digital Patroller 2 (DP-2) Dash Camera System.... Input, Info, Age etc..??? Better??

Im looking at purchasing a dash camera system for my patrol car. We are a low budget dept that doesnt use dash cameras because of the cost but I found this system called the DigitalPatroller 2 (DP-2) system made by Motorola. My sheriff purchased some of the scorpion style cameras to wear on our shirt but I have found this to be a pain with remembering to actually turn it on and constantly having to dump tons of videos time and time again onto a computer and keeping the battery charged. He mainly wants the audio but I want the video on traffic and he said he was all for it SO with that being said im looking for an affordable dash camera with a wireless mic system. This system I found on ebay seems to be nice and what I need.
Has a dash camera, a rear prisoner camera and mic, a wireless mic system for officer, touch screen monitor. Let me know if you guys have ever used this, heard anything on it or have some ideas. Im looking to purchase something fast.

Don't walk, RUN and keeping running from anything Integrian. We HAD them and had nothing but problems with the system. The units would overheat and stop working. The instructions originally said to mount in the trunk, but when we started having the heat problems they asked "Why are you installing them in the trunk?" And the instructions mysteriously were updated to install the units inside the passenger compartment.

The customer service is also terrible. And now that we've gone back to MobileVision, we can not access three years of videos because the video format Intergrian uses is proprietary, so unless we pay a "maintenance" fee, we are out of luck.

But if you have your heart set on them, I think we have seven units sitting around somewhere...LOL

FWIW....my agency had those until about 2 weeks ago...and we dumped EVERY one of them. We had nothing but trouble with them....some wouldnt record.....wireless mic on most didnt work....downloads were inconsistent....and the software they provided to burn dvd's sucked. Technical support was non-existent. We switched to a windows based system by Coban and are loving it!

I'd bungee a VHS-C camcorder to my dash before I'd spend money on one of those

Look around on ebay for a Mobile-Vision VHS system....they are cheap and pretty bullet-proof. Sure, they arent digital, but if you are hving to buy your own it'll damn sure work

We have an in-car video system at Digital Ally that's $1895 including software (although the video isn't in a proprietary format so you don't necessarily have to use the software if you don't want all the management, archiving, reports, etc. it can do). Our systems are really easy to install, which will save you some money, too.

We also have a body-worn system that can be easily mounted in your vehicle for over $1000 less, and although it does a lot more than the scorpion, you still won't have the convenience of your recordings being automatically started like with the in-car video system.

Just let me know if you have any questions. I can also get you some free grant assistance or info on lease purchasing if that will help.

Actually, you might also want to check out video event data recorders. One of the major differences between event recorders and the law enforcement grade in-car video systems is that they're set up to only record for a predetermined amount of time unless you manually start the recording and you also won't have the wireless mic to get audio or start a recording outside of the vehicle, but if that doesn't bother you there's a lot of similarities and they're almost as inexpensive as the wearable video system I mentioned. The wearable video system, btw, does have the option to get a wireless mic with it if you want to leave it mounted in your patrol car.
