Help With Pro-Rack Install (Pics Added)

I just got my STK Pro-Rack for my 2011 Sierra. I know the install is pretty easy but... I've ran into a small issue. The point where I'm supposed to bolt the mounting plate down is covered by a plastic cap and has spray in liner over the cap. I can tell where the plastic cap is at but, I have no idea how to cut it out? Does anyone have any advice for cutting spray in liner? I would hate for this not to work because I cant get two plugs out..
    Thanks!

there are a few different mounting styles for back racks iirc the mounting bolt for this vehicle year is a large bolt with either a nut or a stud welded on the bottom that goes through the hole (where the cap is ) then there is a small plate that would go into the opening you could most likely place the plte over the cap mark an drill and tighten it down this is not the most ideal stuation but if you were to gut the plug out you are going to damage the paint and with it being partially enclosed cause it to rust at an excelerated rate

Dremmel tool. They're a worthwhile cheap investment for so many projects.

Let us know how it goes!

I did the same thing. Had the bed Line-Xed and then went online to see how a backrack would secure to the bed. I figured there was an open hole like near the tailgate... no dice.

I'd agree with the dremel idea. I haven't done it myself yet, but it seems like a sound idea.

I got it installed yesterday, Ill post pics and a longer description in about two hours or so, but I had completely forgot that many spray-in-liners do not adhere to plastic very well if at all. I drilled a hole through the middle and found the liner would "tear" off. I'll post more here in a bit..have to go to class..

    Here are some pics!

What I ended up doing was I drilled a hole right through the middle of that plastic cap using a drill bit that was slightly larger than the hole needed for the bolt that goes there. After drilling the first hole I thought I could make the opening larger by drilling just below it I'm guessing it was the force from drilling two holes caused the liner to "tear" so to say. After that I just took a utility knife and perforated the liner around that plug and carefully tore the liner along the cuts I had made. Thats how I ended up with that you see, I will say that being very careful with the drill bit and the utility knife as to not scratch the paint. This will be less of a concern if you have touch up paint. I have a small bottle that the dealership gave me. I made one small scratch just above the edge of the hole and touched it up so it is sealed back up and won't rust. Hopefully this helps anyone else in this situation

Overall I'm pretty happy with the Pro-Rack but I'm most likely going to have those two bars that are sticking up cut off flush and weld some flat stock and seal it up, then touch up the paint.

Looks good... If I ever get a new vehicle, and it happens to be a truck (Most likely it will be another Avalanche) This will be one of the first things I'd probably get for it...
