    Marcs scanner

What would be a good scanner to be able to get the marcs system?

Cheapest option is tuning a cheap computer or mobile device to Ashtabula County, Ohio (OH) Live Police, Fire, and EMS Scanners on RadioReference.com

Outside of that, the people on radio reference forums would give you much better answers than here.

+1. I've been using my walkie to monitor radio traffic for so long, I've forgotten how to program my scanner. i use my walkie in the car; and if I'm in the den I just bring it up on the computer. Plus i can bring up multiple feeds and listen to both trucking and conventional feeds...

I have a Uniden BCD996XT in the car and a Radio Shack PRO-197 at home.

One thing that pisses me off, it seems like you need a PhD in electronics to program these things. I bought the Uniden off of Code60A (Andrew at Core Public Safety) here on the boards and he has been VERY VERY helpful with it.

I'll second the Radioshack Pro-2096. Not the coolest scanner on the market, but I've had a few for years and the digital voice on it sounds waaaay better than the Unidens that I've had. If you're not a huge scanning enthusiast then you probably don't need anything fancy with a ton of options, so that 2096 will work good. They are easier to program than the Uniden's too.
