Has anybody had their unity spotlight reflector rot out?
This has a reflector with a H3 bulb instead of a sealed beam bulb.
Thx.

Yes, I replaced the one on my brother's constable patrol car just last month. Till that i haven't noticed that happening before.
Yup. The one that came from the factory on my 07 Tahoe did that.
Yep... ended up replacing the driver's side one with a Whelen LED. Passenger side is starting to rust/rot out now I see.
yep.. the reflector is really thin crappy steel
Will this take a sealed beam?
Yep, our 06 Impala's light was all rusty and the bulb burned out a few weeks ago. Took the lens and trim ring off to replace the bulb and the entire reflector fell out in a big brown/silver pile. Just saved the headache and replaced it with an LED replacement insert.

Yes, you can install the original sealed beam in the newer slimmer backing spotlights, been there and done that.
The POS plastic lights also yellow and crack, they are just junk. All my late model Tahoes I have had with the spotlights have been the plastic and yellow greatly and was able to clean them up some with plastic polish and super fine sand paper.

Just replaced one a couple months ago on a 2008 CVPI. The reflector was pitting and when I took it out it literally crumbled in my hands. Never seen it before that. Until this thread, I did'nt think it happened to anyone else.
