    Dominion Automotive mechanical siren

    Hi folks,

I wonder what is the value of this siren, branded or re-branded Dominion Automotive.

This siren was built by the old Auto-Matic Products Co. of Chicago. They've been out of business for several years. They used to have their line of sirens in the Darley catalogs and were reasonably priced. This is the one they called the "Admiral". It was the top of their line and is about the size of a Federal WG siren. If you look at my post above in this forum, I tell a bit about their company. A friend of mine had one of these Admirals and it was loud; and as I note in my other post, one of my fellow vollies many years ago bought the same siren painted black and w/io the rear housing from a supplier in Illinois. When he tried to get info from the owner of Auto-Matic, he was told that they didn't sell to Texas because someone stole from them who was from Texas. They've been out of business for some time. Since they built for Darley and North American and others, I'm sure they built this one for Dominion. Either way it's a good siren. My friend bought his as a NOS in the early '80s for about $115, if I remember correctly. This one appears quite nice.
