LOOK what I got today!! FIRST Beacon Ray in my collection!

I took a little trip to NH today to see Dan Mathieu. I came home with this and a huge smile. The video and pictures speak for themselves........I LOVE this light. It's a heck of a way to start your Beacon Ray collection as well....lol

That's one nice 175. Just don't get it too close to the LED stuff like your Freedom the personality conflicts that will result from the generation gap could be violent!

They have to be taught to play nice together.

    Very nice.

But then what else would you expect coming from Dan.

I need to get back up there again. His collection has changed drastically from my last visit.

The base on mine isn't near as nice. Maybe I'll list it someday.

Is the dome lexan or glass?

I was about to ask the same thing. That's a sweet looking Beacon Ray! I hope to have one like that some day.

That's an awesome start to a collection! The first beacon that started my collection was a 17. This was back before pictures of the items were common on eBay. I bought it based on the description. What I got was a functioning model 17, but the plastic dome had craze lines in it, the motor and gear mechanism made a lot of noise, and the skirt had been modified, I suppose, to make getting the dome off easier, and had been painted black. It now sits in the closet, out of sight, at least for now. I learned to be more careful with my purchases.
Just because you can do something doesn't necessarily mean that you should do it.

In reference to your video the 3 way switch was used on every truck I ever operated that had the 175 on it. Usually it was a pull switch back in the day. Must have been the techie thing to do. Light looks great in the video too.

The dome is glass. The light weighs almost 20lb!. I will be looking for a 3 way vintage pull switch Hoser....

If you take the dome off for any reason, be very careful. They're a lot heavier than you might think.
