    I also like the Amber.
It's my favorite shade of whelen amber... there were many.... leaning towards the yellower side of amber, but not so light it looks clear.

All 994s were special order in 1990 and 1991. This is an example of the label style and bulb holder style that was used the last production year(s). These were kept as a special order only item to fulfill contracts that required sealed beam rotators. They were dropped as a regular product in 1989, but you could order them up until 1992 depending on order size. In 1992/93 the RB6S replaced it as whelen's sealed beam rotator. The RB6 was then dropped in 2000, which was whelen's last rotating sealed beam light. Since then the RB6D has been what whelen refers people to instead.

Very nice, John. I don't remember the model number, but I'd bet that you do. When Lubbock EMS first started c.1975, their first Type I ambulances had big blue Commander strobes bar-mounted over the cab, with the big PAR-46 red single-faced Whelen strobes on the bumper, along with a pair of chrome Whelen speakers powered by a Federal PA200. The interesting thing about this setup was that with the big blue strobe beacons over the cab, it technically didn't meet Texas specs at the time which have always required red in the primary position. But they got by with it because of the two big red tunnel lights built into the front of the "box". Go figure!

John would definately be the man on this one. Any old catalogs I've seen never showed a model number for pairs of either the older "5000 Strobe Commander" or "5200 Strobe Commander" on a CB-1010 crossbar.

I do know with the halogen rotating version, if they were a pair of the 2 bulb Commanders on a CB-1010 cross-bar, it was a "Model Twin 992", a pair of the four bulb Commanders on a CB-1010 crossbar was "Model Twin 994".
