Vintage lighting and siren on 1978 ALF Century pumper

I'm not sure this is allowed, and wasn't sure where else to post this as a "for sale" item.

I'm trying to sell my 1978 American LaFrance Century series pumper. Comes with a pair of Federal 176 Red/Clear rotators, rear strobes, and a Federal Q and Bell. It has a 6-71 Detroit Diesel and Allison Automatic Transmission.

If there is any interest, let me know. If this needs to be moved, someone tell me exactly where to post it.

    Thanks
    Tommy

    lights

these Federals are "Old School" i guess, but they are original to the rig. I also have a 75" Code3 SD 3 section, 2 speaker bar light for it, but i like the 176's better......

    thanks

The Q and bell are not mounted on the truck. I see a speaker on the passenger's side bumper. Does the truck have an electronic siren too? If it does, what make and model?

Quite frankly I think it's absolutely "criminal" to ruin a fine old piece of fire apparatus by removing the lights and siren from the truck. While I don't think it ever applied to old fire trucks there's a law on the books that forbids doing the same to ambulances and rescue vehicles...especially the old coach style ambulances. Obviously it's hard to enforce, but I've actually seen it done. I had vaguely heard something about this many years ago (I think the legislation came out c.1976) but never paid any mind to it. But a few years ago I happened to pass by a local non-emergency ambulance service whose owner is a good friend. He was on a stepladder removing the lightbars, tunnel lights, speakers, etc. from a couple of older Type II ambulances that had been taken out of service. It was his intention to place those items on ebay. His office happened to be on a busy highway that ran thru town, and would you believe that after I left a Federal DOT agent just happened to drive by while he was still on the ladder. The guy read him the "riot act" and went on and on about the old legislation and then stood there while the guy had to put everything back in place. Sounds like something almost out of the "Twilight Zone", but with the Feds, I've seen stranger things than that.

    Cool Siren and Bell

I believe his intentions are that if someone wants it all, they'll pay the "buy it now" price. Otherwise he'll get the funds some other way. I offered the brother an even up trade for the rig and he get's the 1970 Caddy M&M combo car with all the extra parts and doors and mechanical parts etc.

That would be my third ALF rig (have a 54 pumper & a 56 ladder) in the Firehouse. No response yet but i"m patiently waiting!!!! LOL

    info

this bell and siren aren't the originals that came on this rig, I dug around and found these that match the originals. I hope they sell with the rig, but i will entertain offers AFTER or IF the pumper sells, and only IF the buyer doesn't want to keep them with the rig......

It has a newer Whelen electronic in it as it sits.

and I got your offer, sent a reply, LOL

the starting bid is $3100. The Buy It Now Option is for $6800 and that gets everything (Bell and Q). The Reserve is between the 2 of course.
I have had offers to scrap the rig for my reserve price.... just really dont want to do that.......

I think those 176's are correct for that apparatus. They have the late "square" type ID badge and all of the Beacon Ray models were available from Fed Sig through 1982.
Just because you can do something doesn't necessarily mean that you should do it.

Now that's a nice old ALF! Are the beacons CJ184s (with the speaker) or just high-skirted 184s? Very nice either way. Does your dept. still have the truck?

They must've read my mind! I started to say earlier that the CJs would've looked better with clear domes and colored bulbs. Looks like they thought so, too!

We put the clear lens on it in the 1980's. That was an old picture hanging on the wall at the station.

BTW sorry to the OP for going off topic.

I have an offer on the truck, and the buyer doesnt want the bell and siren. Does anyone want to make offers on the Bell, or the Siren or on both ?

The truck is still for sale right now, and the asking price is somewhere in the $4500 range without the bell and siren. I just don't want to see this truck get scrapped, which is a rapidly approaching possibility.....

    Offers by PM please
    Thanks
