    2012 Chevy Silverado POV (fire/EMS)

Silverado Install - a set on Flickr

A huge upgrade from my 2006 Malibu, which had very little room to install equipment.

How's the intensity of those rotators? Being so slim I can't imagine they're very bright. I've seen the strobe version of that bar, though, and it's just as good as an Edge or a JetStrobe. Either way, looks great.

i go to school in upstate and pretty sure the police around here have those same bars. If they are the same, then believe me the output is impressive.

Avon PD and Livingston County Sheriff use a lot of SVP products (as they are local). I'm sure there are some others as well.

As with any rotators, they are not as bright as LEDs might be, but they do have significant output and I like rotators.

Thanks for the complements folks! The console was a father-son project, and the lightbar was a Chief-Firefighter project. Thinking about painting the console, but we'll see.

I've seen them on the sheriffs' cars and Geneseo PD as well as the school PD

    Thanks!

I'm thinking about doing some grille lights and a push bar as well, once I get some money saved up.

Other than that, I don't have a lot of rear warning. That is something I might look into improving, but I'm not really sure how at this point.

Great looking console, but I would definitely stain it, or cover it with carpet to match the interior.

I don't disagree, but now that everything is installed and wired that might be more difficult.

Maybe sometime when I've got a free weekend (ha!).

    Thanks.

How do yours compare with other rotator bars, like an MX7000?

    Looks great, regardless.

Interesting choice of lighting. One of the chief's cars in my department has a Star (razor) SVP bar identical to yours. I do believe that vehicle is getting rotated to the take home duty EMS flycar next year, so hopefully I'll get a better look at it. Star/SVP products are pretty big in the greater Syracuse area.

Good question. Our grass truck has an MX7k on it (albeit red). I'll see if I can park next to it sometime and take a comparison video.

I was formerly with a dept just north of Syracuse before moving out of state. Our chief's cars and squad truck (also a Silverado) had the Sabre bars. The output for both the strobes and rotators are excellent, especially for a low profile bar. The 4 halogen flashers to the front do tend to drown out the rest though. Every time our chief was behind me all I could see was white alternating lights, so I'd recommend adding a colored filter to 2 of them.

Thanks for the suggestion. I can't run flashing white to the front as a non-Chief, but I can use the takedowns if they aren't flashing. Will look into it, especially if I ever make Chief.

When (if) you do this, keep in mind that red lights tend to be more visible than blue in the day, and it's reversed at night.

Thanks folks. I agree about the console... it is going to take some ambition, so when I find some of that again I'll either paint it or cover it (i.e. carpet).

2x Whelen 700 series or similar halogen flashers, with solid blue lens and simple, slow left-right alternating pattern.
