NJ EMS Task Force/ Shark River Hills FAS MAB 2 "the BUS" - Photo Heavy

So we finally received "The Bus" today. Its called the Medical Ambulance Bus 2, its a NJ EMS Task Force/ Monmouth County EMS/OEM recourse that is operated by my First Aid Squad. It can carry 18 patients on liters/stretchers or a mix of that, wheelchairs, and bench seats. It will be used for mass casualty response, hospital/nursing home evacuations, and rehab for fires/hazmats. We just took delivery today and its still EMPTY of supplies.

    But here's the lighting package:

    Front:
7x Whelen 900 Series LED Red (I think 2 or 3 may be white also)
2x Whelen 600 Series LED Red
    D6 Whelen Dominator RWRRWR

    Each Side:
5x Whelen 900 Series Led Red
5x Whelen 600 Series LED Red (one mounted vertical on front corner)
    Whelen Pioneer

    Rear:
2x Whelen 900 Series LED Red
2x Whelen 900 Series LED Amber
    Whelen Pioneer

    Whelen 295 200w Siren
    Motorola CDM1250 VHF Radio
    Motorola CDM1250 UHF Radio

Comes with 2 Stryker Stretchers, a rear ramp, and a 1500lb winch for the ramp mounted under the floor midway up bus.

    And now for pictures.

    On Board 20kw Generator

I'll try to get a video if you guys want one, and pics with lights on.

There is scene lighting. Look at the top between the 2 & 3 AC units and above the back door.

Very nice. When the eastern sky lights up I will know it is in use, & I see why they could not reduce the federal budget LOL.

Has 1 pioneer per side for a total of 3. I do think tho there should have been atleast one more per side, as well as possibly some tripod lights that are portable that hook up to the side electrical outlets.

LOL, yeah it won't be hard to miss. And exactly why the Federal and NJ State Budgets have such problems! I think we are getting around 20-25 of these things within NJ funded by the state/federal govt.

Thats wild looking. We have nothing like that any where in my area. We dont have any special vehicles for major incidents and what we do have it is rarely used or requested on large scenes. We have a regional Hazmat team with a few trailers and they are never seen. My town hosts a large decon shower trailer and box van with supplies for oil spills and we have responded one time in all the years we have had it in the area.

Looks great! The county I work in has one too. I said the same thing it would never get use. WRONG they use it on a regular basis.

Again looks good, glad to see NC represented.

We are fairly lucky with our equipment and staffing. Everything we have gets used either in our town or in a surrounding town thru mutual aid. Everything is fairly split equally between agencies as well with each with own specialties.

I have no clue, I didn't even notice it. I beleive they are on there from the dealer possibly awaiting actual NJ reg/plates.

Agreed, hopefully only used for rehab incidents. I can see a few uses for it tho already within the past years if we had it. not looking forward to those days again.

Nice! NJ is kicking out 14 of these things in various parts of the state? I would just pre-locate them on routes used often by those fly by night Asian Tour Bus junkets that are always crashing somewheres.

I have no clue where they are going, but they are going to be assigned across the entire state.

I don't know how I missed this thread, but I did! My county (Howard County, Maryland) and an adjacent county (Anne Arundel County, Maryland) both got one of the second generation MABs, and I see some of the changes that our EMS BC made (he's been working on it for q-u-i-t-e a while, such as the swing-up door above the swing out door in the rear.

We have 2 in Charlotte NC. We have used then several times are have proved to be a great asset to the agency. I am one of 4 special operations techs. that are assigned to the MABs and our MCI/support rig. I may get around to posting some pics tonight. Lighting is pretty much the same. I know I have a vid floating around somewhere of all the blinkies. You can see one of them here: Agency Assets - Medic 911

The company that made that bus is in Abline Texas. They also make the Blood Mobiles for the American Red Cross. They have been around for a long long time.

What is this unit licensed as? Would I be correct to assume dual (ALS or BLS depending on available staffing)?
