Our Chevy Impala Demo Car
This is our new Impala demo car that was completed a few weeks ago. It is pictured here at the Tennessee Police Chiefs Association Conference which went on this past week. All lighting is Federal Signal, the Valor bar on the roof is not permenantly mounted, just sitting there for demo purposes. All the other lighting was picked by the salesman driving this car. The locations for the lights were also picked by him. Some of the light locations I am not crazy about, but whatever thats his problem since he is the one who has to drive it and demo it. All lights are operated by a Platinum siren which has the brain and controller stored in the trunk, but which also pulls out for easy access for demo purposes. The cage and prisoner seat are all Jotto Desk.

Uh.. mounting warning lights on a SUV/trucks running board is one thing... this... just... no.
An annoyance online since original BBS days- early 90's. Damn I miss modem tones... but not 14.4 kbit/s.
You know what the chain of command is? It's the chain I'm going to get and beat you with until you understand who's in command here.... (best quote ever!)
I collect green lighting. Let me know what you have!

The side lights would have looked better in the location where the Caprice and Interceptor is...middle 1/4 panel.

Ga1,474 PostsI'm normally not a fan of demo vehicles (seems like a lot of people use DEMO as an excuse to put a ton of crap on a POV) but kind of like this. Is it practical? No, but that's not why it was made. It's job is to show different lights and compare their size, brightness, and overall look to each other and in various locations. It does this and doesn't look too gaudy.

It's a demo, so the overload is acceptable... My question is why not having some markings (even stealth-like) which would ID it as demo, and make for an even more efficient rolling-billboard ?

i would say this would be a really great install if that salesman removed the lower 6 grill lights and the pair of LEDs in the "running board" area...it just looks tacky IMHO.
And, if he would've mounted the pair of upper grill LEDs behind the grill (like NYPD), then i think it'd look a bit more professional

Good point.
Some demos are thought out like rolling display panels (such as this one) : all the catalog must fit on the car, if all possible in a conspicuous way.
And sometimes it defeats the purpose."We make the weather"

Hehe, that would be a no no. That is the owner. I appreciate everyone's comments. Our old crown vic demos had graphics at one time. I am not sure why they wanted to get away from them. I agree that some of the lights are a little out of place, but I think the thought was versatility and options for placement rather than aesthetics.
The Impaxx 6 on the running boards are angled down slightly, but it has actually produced some interest. We had several agencies inquire about placing Impaxx 6 on bigger SWAT or utility type trucks for "scene" or "ground" lighting for when on scene.

orange county ny96 PostsI really like the demo car. I think its harder to do a demo car vs an suv where you have more room to display product. I think that the sales rep did a good job trying to go outside the box on this one.

Grill lights are the Tri Color Impaxx 6. License plate lights are regular Impaxx without the shroud around them.
