    Re-wiring project for POV.

So, about four years ago, I inherited a Cavalier as my car when the wife got the new car. I planned on buying a new car later that year, but this car gets pretty good mileage, so we ended up keeping it and plan to run it into the ground. There is something to be said about proper maintenance and upkeep.

I had wired up a "temporary" install of my emergency lights (Assistant Chief for small VFD), and my VHF radio. I later added a scanner, but it too is kind of "temporarily" installed. I decided over the weekend that I wanted to re-wire everything that would:

    1. Make it easier to remove, upgrade, or repair equipment as needed.
    2. Bring wiring up to standards, mark wiring better and conceal/run the loom better.
    3. And make it easy to just pull the install out and plop it into a new vehicle when that time comes.

So, here is goes. Please offer advice or feed back , as I don't do this very often and would love to hear advice.

Here are the parts for the power box:
    Junction box from Lowes (8x8x6)
    Circuit junction block (x6)
    Terminal strip x 8
    Two relays.

    Here's the parts laid out:

Next, I installed the relays off to the side.

Next, I put the circuit block in. Then I realized I put it in backwards. Oops.

Here's everything mounted up and holes for power lines drilled. Gotta stop at the store and get a blue spade connectors, since I'm out!

    More to come!

Like the circurt breaker idea but most companies including Whelen recommend that you don't use them for some reason. Just a heads up thats why I use fuses.

Apologies, should have been circuit block, not breaker. It's got fuses.

I'm sure you know this already, but don't forget the zip ties and a couple grommets for the holes you just made. I'm completing a re-wire myself right now. Looks good so far!
