I haven't seen them in person, but from looking at these pictures I have the following concerns:
On the Explorer, oh sorry, I mean the Interceptor Futility, The warning lights in the rear hatch are riveted in?
What is the story with the front HAW and turn signals? I see bulbs missing and what looks like LAW's.
No crash tests?John D. Cummings

The NGPI's will offer factory LED HAW's instead of a HLF. That would be the 'Front Headlamp Light Solution'
While those are real vehicles, they are still pre-production vehicles. Notice the manufature plate, "VEHICLE IS NOT FOR SALE" note, and no MSRP. Fleet/PPV's are exempt from CAFE (Fuel Economy Ratings), nor do they have to list crash test ratings on the Monroney sticker. Once the test period is done, Ford will take the pre production vehicles back and crush them. Michigan SP, had some of these, that were passed onto another agency. I didnt find the thread, but there are pictures here.
The sedan looks decent, like a special use Taurus, very aggressive. The utility looks like every other lame new Explorer (which I feel they should call the Taurus Station Wagon because it is).__________________________________________________ _______

This is concerning to me. HAW's have a completely different function than a HLF. Mounting HAW's into a headlamp housing does not a HLF make.
I was just reading the upfitter guide and found something that made me lol. There is so much technical date and statements in it as expected, and then there is this:
"Dimmer: Circuit supplied to allow backlight dimming of aftermarket stuff"
That is on page 2-86, LOL.Last edited by SafetyLighting; March 2nd, 2012 at 02:56 PM.

Ford seems to not want HLF's on their vehicles. The F-350 Ambulance Prep package is very clear about no HLF. the last body style Explorer would freak out with a HLF, sednig messages to the dash and tripping the PCM.
I'm in favor of more use of moose lights!__________________________________________________ _______

DAYTON & TOLEDO, OHIO7 PostsWhile these were being shown the engineers from Ford told us straight up not to even attempt to use headlght flashers in any of the new vehicles....and advised us against drilling into the actual assembly to mount hide-a-way LED's. We have done away with front HAW's in the headlights on the Chargers, Caprice and soon to be Ford models. There are just waaay to many other options that are much easier (and sometimes cost effective) to use.

The projector style headlights are what interfere with the HLF, not Fords personal vendetta against HLF, I just don't think it would work.

Actually it is the moving reflector that makes the use of a HLF bad. And it stands to reason that the PCM would be a factor like it is in other fords.

Kirtland, OH FD here in Lake County has an (admittedly, non-police) 2012 Explorer with that style headlamps that their Chief drives. The local upfitters somehow rigged them up to wigwag. I've seen it personally, but no video. We were in the middle of something, so I didn't ask 'em to pop the hood or anything. I really don't think LAWs are sufficient substitute for wigwags, though. And yeah, the older Explorers throw error codes with wigwags (mine always tells me the right high beam is out).
But...since a deer committed suicide on the front of my cruiser on Saturday, I'm not going to have wigwags reinstalled when I get it back. I purchased several of the "mule" lights from Dave (aka MichianaELS) and plan on installing them just inboard of the headlights on either side of the grille. Gonna wire 'em up to my TD flasher unit, so in code 3 they'll wigwag, AND be on steady when the TDs are activated. Should help give me that proverbial "wall of light", and personally I think the "whiteness" of the LED lights flashing catches your eye better than the yellowish headlamp lights do.Twitter.com/K9Carly

The Interceptor looks like a European Mondeo on steroids... Which I mean as a compliment...

I just love those black HD wheels with center caps... Wish they made them on Mondeos..."We make the weather"
