John, if its manpower you need to make a verification system work, I'm sure theres plenty of people here willing to help, myself included and I wouldn't need any form of compensation.

Spencer NC164 Postshey guys,
I sent Paul a MTS2000 for repair. Silly me. However he seemed to know what he was talking about and told me he could repair the radio (cracked display, stuck PTT button). I sent him the radio over a month ago. He replied to PMs regarding the radio and told me he sent it to a buddy to have him look at it and it seemed to be a cheap, easy fix. After reading this thread I sent him a message regarding status. He has read the messages but failed to reply. Im sure Im in the same boat as the rest of you guys. I told him no harm no foul as long as he sent the radio back to me in the same condition as he received it. I asked him to "honor the brotherhood" and make the deal right on his end. So for now NEGATIVE feedback will be left and we will see if I ever receive my radio back.

I've already talked to a friend who is a MSP Trooper covering the fifth district and was given contact information for the Eighth District Post #86. There wasn't much he could do as he doesn't cover that specific area. He did tell me he would work the case if he comes down state! Based on peoples comments and feedback, he said it would be worth their time to catch him!! Hopefully something may come out of this!
I advise those who were taken for their items or money, to give them a call. (Based on his last known location)

It's not a doable system for a variety of reasons. Workload is only one of those reasons. Just because someone is verified doesn't necessarily mean much. I have this guy's address and personal info, he would have been a verified member. A big issue is what to verify.... only about half of the sellers here have a public safety cert I could "run".... many of the scammers here would have passed that test too.... sadly being a public servant doesn't mean you aren't a thief.... A good number of the rip offs on the site are people for whom I have valid contact info... and would have easily been verified. I'm not sure you can really verify people against being thieves.... You can confirm that they are who they say they are.... name and address wise... but I'm not really sure that keeps them from stealing.
If anyone wants this asshat's address let me know via PM.

The area where Paul ran these transactions out of is covered by MSP post 75,out of Houghton Lake... and if the police do get involved and go after him, I'm more than willing to talk to any of them about what's gone on. John, if you'd like my full contact information to give to them, if it'll help, ask for it in pm and I'll send it to you.

It's been advised to contact MSP as this is both a federal crime (mail fraud) as well as a felony for defrauding someone of their property.

Things aren't sounding good for Paul. Might want to advise MSP, if they aren't already aware, he probably has an active "failure to appear" warrant as well (or so I've been advised).

The failure to appear would be for Crawford County. It was a trooper out of MSP post 75 that pulled him over for the citation in reference on that failure to appear.

If he wasn't arrested on the traffic stop it must be something minor or a low mile pick up
warrant. This tells me its most likely a 50 mile traffic violation that Paul did not pay and
license is still valid or that trooper would have taken him to jail for a suspended license
or a outstanding warrant.

Right. It's in reference to a traffic stop... Paul didn't pay the citation, didn't appear for court, so now there's a local "Failure to Appear" warrant that's out. They do the same thing in Indiana - usually the warrant's only good for that specific county or within 50mi, but still... a warrant is a warrant.

Here's what I understand of what happened. Paul had a suspended license from Clinton twp, down by Detroit. He got pulled over for speeding in Crawford county, in northern Lower peninsula, by a trooper. She said his license was suspended and he had a warrant. He couldn't come up with more than $100 on the spot, and Clinton wouldn't come pick him up for that (I had to drive after this point, obviously). He had his dad wire him the rest, and he went to Crawford county courthouse to pay the fines for the ticket that got him the suspended in Clinton twp (I did not go in with him, this is just what he said... though I was there for what the trooper told him). He said he had to go back Feb 9th for the driving on suspended, which he said the Crawford county deps told him it would probably be thrown out because he paid the fines, got his license reinstated.. but again, that's just what he said.
He never showed Feb 9th for the court date on the suspended. As far as I know, it takes 90 days for it to go into the system for a warrant... but I'm not positive on that. So he has the failure to appear to deal with the ticket for driving on a suspended in Crawford county.

New Jersey1,194 PostsI remember him telling a story about that warrant in the chat before, but it was alittle bit different. He stated that eveything was cleared up and that he was driving an EMS rig at the time. Interesting

That's what he told me the warrant was for down in Clinton twp, too. Don't know if it was true or not. But yeah, supposedly he went to court for it, and the court forgot to clear it out of the system, because they dropped the ticket for him rear-ending a car while driving an ambulance (again, this is his story)... and that's what caused the warrant. When he got pulled over for speeding up here, he had a suspended and a warrant for a ticket down in Clinton twp, but the Trooper who pulled him over never stated what the ticket/warrant/suspension down there was for, so his story was never verified for me.

That's him, alright.
And sorry to the rest of you guys.. MX's domes are the only thing he left behind here.
Also as a note- if you check the State of Michigan's page for EMTs, he is NOT licensed. His has said 'pending' for several years... which means that he may have passed the National Registry test, but the state won't license him for some reason or another.
