Took some photos of this sheriffs truck I saw. It had TWO dash cameras and a side camera. Can't figure out what they are all for? The side camera is point down as to be viewing the side of the road.

actually most ALPR systems use some form of IR. Ours does. Just most camera systems are a little larger than that. But the tech was changing so quickly that this could be a new wave of cameras. It's just not something I have seen... yet. Our system uses fairly low profile cameras, however; this camera looks like a webcam on roids.

North Dakota/Minnesota451 PostsI would highly doubt it's LPR. Simply because the county is very rural and camera angle is wrong..... But still the 2 forward facing dash cameras? Guess they want that dual action for court lol.

Looks like a what I saw public works / survey vehicle... in that case it was used to view curb-based utilities...

John, that would make more sense.
I wasn't going to rule out camera angle on the side mount because that's a very similar angle to one we have mounted for running tags at side angles in parking lots.

They do look more like stationary survailance cameras vs. ALPR that I've seen.
