Thats cool. I am sure it will be strange 10 years from now to be able to go see a NOS Crown Vic in their museum.

Notice the article stated that was the last CVPI produced for the US market. The CVPI was still built into the 2012 model year, with the last production model being delivered to Saudi Arabia, if I remember correctly. My previous agency purchased the last 2 new black CVPI's in the Midwest, but we had to travel 2hrs away in the suburbs of Chicago to find the dealership that had them in stock. We paid full MSRP (approximately $23,000/ea) and I had the honor of upfitting them with my business, at the time. The install thread is here on the board for them.

Yep. They changed to white cars and lightbars in the 90s. I had to check into that because the following quote from the OP's original article bugged me:
If your agency is 75 years old and they've only used lightbars for the last 15 or so, it's not a tradition. Just sayin. To celebrate its 75th anniversary in 2012, the agency issued 14 historic-themed Crown Vics to troopers with a historic blue-and-gray color scheme and cherry beacon LED lights instead of a traditional lightbar.
According to the article, they are LED beacons and they do look like they're in Unity housings like MSP's. Maybe they should pay royalties...

I am afraid you are wrong. Once CVPI production ended here, it ended PERIOD!
Yes, the Saudi's got the 2012 models, but they werent CVPI's.
The last Crown Victoria is being preserved at the Saudi Arabia Ford dealership that ordered it. It should be in the Henry Ford Museum.

From KHP's facebook page, it looks just like the Unity shell with LED innards used by Michigan State Police.

North Dakota/Minnesota451 PostsWait, wait, wait. Oklahoma Highway Patrol buys USED cars from KHP? I have NEVER EVER heard of a state agency purchasing used vehicles. If that's true it's a first for me.
Need I say more? I think not

I was hoping for one of the last built, however looks like I'm destined for another Impala. Haven't had a Crown Vic since '90.

Memphis area - USA263 PostsI now know, officially, that I'm both a light dork and a dork of a native Michigander. When I saw that KHP fleet lined up with the single beacons my stomach actually flipped. When I finally got to see a closeup picture to realize that the beacons are ABOLUTLEY the LED beacons designed for the Michigan State Police... my stomach flipped even harder. AWESOME!
It has occurred to me, several times, that this product could actually see wider adoption. The Mississippi Highway Patrol had a single Whelen strobe for years. I'd love to see them try out this Unity/Whelen frankenbeacon concept in blue. Of course, the MissHP is one of those agencies that has gotten themselves addicted to ree-donkulous arrays of supplemental LEDS (lightbars WITH extra lights on: plates, bumpers, grill, taillights, backup lights, front & rear deck... all on one car).

Memphis area - USA263 PostsThere are quite a few more shots of this setup on a variety of albums on their Facebook page. The comments regarding the paint scheme and, most importantly the single red beacon, have been VERY positive. One guy commented about a lack of warning power. Several others responded saying they'd seen these lit up in the day and that they were incredibly bright. Like I said before, I'd love to see this MSP-inspired beacon to catch on in other places, even if in blue (starting with the Mississippi Hwy Patrol).

I would love to see 2 of those beacons on a ladder truck instead of the typical mini bars
