It looks like the Engine has an Opticom anyways mounted center just above windshield. A little fast around that corner. Nice set-up though...

Levittown, Pa571 PostsUgh, I will not even comment on this departments driving habits.

And my LT thought I was a little airhorn-heavy back in my VFD days. Ditto the comments on speed, especially in the turn.

I'm not going to comment on the driving technique because although we can monday qb it to death, at the same time we're limited to a small portion of what the operator saw from up front.
I had wanted to see one of those RAT's, I think my engine's got 5' of wheelbase and 10' of truck more than it does. Makes the air horn and PA handmike more important when maneuvering in tight circumstances.

Georgia141 PostsOpticom or no Opticom, there is no excuse for completely blowing an intersection.

Levittown, Pa571 PostsOk, I can not resist, I have to talk about this department. Levittown Fire Company has destroyed 2 chiefs cars in 5 years(1 there fault, 1 not there fault the non fault accident was 1 1/5 months ago. The 08 charger they had got blasted by a drunk.), they bent and broke a boom and split open a metal water tank on there tele-squit. If you want the video, the traffic light that they pass under while making the left hand turn is green. They have been known to leave skid marks on the road way from there driving. They have hit numerous items. While there squit was oos they struck a car at an intersection while responding to an outside wires call. Watching this video does not surprise me one bit. My chief once got passed by there engine going to a dwelling fire, and he was doing 70 in the Crown vic we used to have. Being from a neighboring department, I sometimes dreed having to deal with them.

Australia, NSW237 PostsThe local department is known for their rapid response times, give them enough room and they'll run at 120+km/h. But even with green lights they will slow through intersections, seen 1 truck actually treat the green as if it was a red. Found out later that the driver had a member of the public freak out at the siren and launch through a red light across the front of him! He had a green at the time.

Nice set-up on the chief's car. Never understand cars for fire chief vehicles though, just get an SUV and keep it marked or unmarked if you want.

Judging by it being unmarked, no siren, and not even department colors, I would hazard a guess that it's a POV.
I concur, SUV for Chiefs, for the most part. My BC runs a extended cab pickup, AC's/DC/Chief all have explorers that vary in equipment setup depending on their position. No issues taking care of business with his pickup truck, and it's very handy for scene cleanup... plus you need a pickup to tow the HAZMAT trailer, and he's the 2IC for the area hazmat team.

I wouldn't run silent behind a responding truck that close. Stay back a little bit and use a different siren tone from the Engine. Still marked or not, get an SUV, lol.
