Can "Volunteer SAR" or "Volunteer Search & Rescue" be added to the Profession pull-down menu?
Thanks!"Always prepared, so others may live"

Please add military as well
Some people couldn't get it together even if it came in a combo!

Ohio356 PostsI asked for Retired LEO. Us retired officers have a lot of experience with lighting. When I see those labels it gives me a good idea of what experience a member has (collector, installer, someone who uses this equipment on the job).

Think it'd be easier to just have a blank field to type in whatever one may want, but only one so as to encourage relevancy. I will say John and the team did a fine job on the one's already listed.

I think this thread is the exact reason John did not just put every profession in as a option. This being a emergency equipment board, the professions that are unrelated have no business here. Being in the military, while praiseworthy, doesn't add to your knowledge base about lights/sirens. Same for Animal Control, or SAR. Those professions have a place in off-topic discussions, but it does not affect the majority of the board conversations. Even A-EMT's, while that title might affect how you're viewed on a EMS board, it does not change your expertise level here. I may be wrong, but I think the majority of the regulars here would agree with me.

It may nice as far as self-esteem is concerned, but as far as knowledge of the laws and use of said equipment, you're a LEO. Being military is irrelevant. That being said, I mean no disrespect to any Public Safety profession, least of all the military. Even the Canadian military, with all their 3 canoes and 2 Go-Karts.

I will add retired and military.... i honestly meant to have military already... You can combine retired with what ever you retired from as a separate line to make Retired anything in the list. As far as advanced or intermediate EMT..... that's covered by EMT. It's too specific to break down any further. No disrespect to you IV monkeys. I'll add SAR but not specifically volunteer ... the idea is so people can see what draws you here... not an employment history.

What about Snow Removal? We use lights! That's why I came to ELB in the first place.
WARNING: I receive and read through Galls catalogs. Therefore, I am an expert in emergency services equipment.

Re: Request to add another profession.
Since a lot of members seem to have a hand in all three emergency service divisions, why not add a catch-all "Public Safety" or "PSO?"

Re: Request to add another profession.
I know; I was just thinking someone could put Public Safety, then add any extras (HazMAT, Dispatcher, Emergency Management, etc).
