Wanted Whelen MAX Beam strobes. Any color or w/o lens

I'm looking for a few Max beam strobes, in a good condition as possible. The lens color doesn't really matter and I would also be okay with ones without lenses. I ultimately need four to six of these but two would be a huge help.

A tribute to siren related hearing damage; the "all speaker" mini advantedge

In the category of "I had the parts so I made it", this is an internal speaker advantedge in the shortest length possible to still have any lights at all. I was thinking about what to do with the speaker section I had and noticed I only had fluted lenses and a mini frame. I thought back to when...

    Whelen 295HFANC ?

I found a few generic 295 install manuals and even a specific one listing this siren .... Pdf I just can't tell what's different about it than other 295 sirens. Anybody know what makes this model specifically different? Or does anybody know what "anc" stands for? Audio noise cancelling? It...

For Sale Whelen Pioneer Flood Lights

These were bought for a conversion that never occurred. The group includes two pioneers and one pioneer plus. They all are in recessed housings, the plus on a U bracket for aiming, the other two both flat mounted (slightly different flat mount within the housing (see pics). I also have two...

Whelen Alpha 12Q "Brain Transplant" Procedure

I took a gamble on a non-working Alpha 12Q, 12X (euro), and a standard Alpha 12R siren lot for a very "non-working price". The 12Q didn't have a cover either, I'm assuming someone put it on a 12M and sold it for more money (I remember that happening on facebook a few years ago). On arrival the...

    Site News What Matters?

We have previously highlighted the the changes in social media and how people buy and sell equipment currently. I have continued to look at how the site is used. Recently Twitter and Reddit both took interesting turns demonstrating that nothing is static in the world of online communications...

Didn't like the "warning" pattern on my strobe arrow bar

I have a strobe arrow bar powered by a Whelen UPS 690 (newer style). The arrow functions are fine, but the "warning" pattern within the arrow mode is pretty bad. I ended up using a relay to put the supply back into "regular mode" by removing one of the three pattern wires required to place it...

A relay with a two prong flasher

One way to make an alternating flasher is with a relay and a two prong flasher. I know there are other ways, but I had a specific question about how to alternate a two prong flasher and I figured I would share my fix this way. Really, just buy an alternating flasher. They aren't expensive and...

    AMR Whelen Edge 9000

I have a 9M version of this bar, which was essentially an edge with two inboard strobes, a center 7x3 halogen, 7x3 halogens on the ends (both tied to the ambulance flasher) and an alley light position warning light on a flasher of its own. 9M 9000 version is what I am aiming to build...

Anyone actually every see a Pierce Alert option installed in an advantedge?

I know the version I saw was made with a pierce alert body and two gen 1 advantedge rotators (like the inside of and OSC bar). My question is how did it mount? From what I remember it was behind a clear rotator style lens, but I don't remember the orientation of the base or how far forward it...

For Sale Whelen Ultra Edge Power boards and harnesses

I have two Whelen edge ultra power distribution boards with the wires/harnesses going in, no other wiring. The one "cord" is over 10 feet the other maybe 6. I'd like to get $30 plus shipping each or $50 for the pair.

For Sale Mounting bars, feet, hardware, straps, and a rough Sireno Crossbar

I have no idea what all of these mounts go to; some are to 8000/90h bars (far left), and there are LP6000 feet at the bottom right. Other than that they came with bars that I display without feet and I lost track, or I got them in an auction lot. The Sireno crossbar is missing an endcap and had...

    Deitz Strobe Heat fins

I always wondered how well the heat fins worked on some Dietz and other brand strobes. Here is a Deitz after 20 min of runtime in 65 degree ambient air. The heat fins are connected to mosfets which I think may serve a triggering role in the power supply, but they are certainly what they are...

Mad as a hatter for old Whelen stuff

I got this box of airport related Whelen stuff and in it was a foam paddle on a swivel with wires coming out of it. The foam was brittle and flaked away revealing a Mercury switch. When the padle is pushed backwards it triggers the electronics in the beacon and illuminates it. Not sure if it...

Running two sirens indoors with resistors

I have a "demo" setup to run two sirens "momentarially" at safe volume indoors. The setup uses a resister for each siren and has a red cutoff button on each side in case you want to mute one siren for a moment. I will upload a video later, but right now I have a 58w Federal from 1970 and a 100w...

Federal Power Supply; Pin order and failure

Federal Power Supplies have the trigger in the middle. I got this one as a free not working parts source. Here is a tracing showing how the trigger wire is in the middle of the plug not the end. When I took the case off I noticed a mosfet had no thermal sheet between it and the housing and...

Harris County Toll Road Authority Advantedge

I am refurbing this Harris County TX Toll road authority Advantedge, and it is unique. The only thing missing is the LP speaker, which I have a new metal top for the bar so the torn out screws don't show. It's an odd setup; 2 rotators, 2 external rear flashers, 8 internal strobes, center mounted...

    Achievement Unlocked Ford Interceptor

Wanted Slide in mounts for j tube era edge

I'm looking for four slide in light mounts for the older style edge. They were light tan plastic with knockouts for two 4x3 bulbs and a set of screw holes to mount the corner tubes. These were used with J tube style bars commonly. The picture shows one with one lighthead and one blank intact.

My Whelen people, help me ID what Whelen stole this board from (Piercer I)

I have the cast housing (no board sadly), I need to know which beacon to rob... unless (gasp) it was specifically designed for the piercer. The mounting holes look like they line up with a gen 1 superstrobe; but I know it was double the normal rate, so I always assumed they just used a supply...

    New strobe to mess with

No clue what this was supposed to be. It has several loose connections I need to repair before I test it more. The transformer is hanging by one lead, that's the first thing to fix.

How does the Rota-Beam Commander work? Reverse motor polarity?

The rota-beam command oscillates 205°, the perfect amount to display 3 of the beacon's 4 bulbs. But how does it oscillate? It seems like the travel is too far for a standard cam / arm mechanism like the 174. I think it reverses motor polarity. I noticed a few things; The motor and light itself...
