The magenta over amber makes it look pretty red to me, I'd be interested in seeing just how much different it really is. Also, do you have information as to when/why a magneta lense was produced? Doesn't seem very useful to me.

Like all colors being used at the same time. Pretty unique, I guess.
I stored them in the basement again already. I'll take new pictures of my collection including this lenses in 2013.
Purple? It's dark-blue. Looks almost black "in real life". What a pity I sold the CIE-blue parts.

Magenta/purple is used over here in Australia for a few things. One State (Western Australia) uses it on Department Of Environment and Conservation "HAZMAT" response units for some reason, whereas every other State uses it on their States heavy vehicle/transport inspectors/enforcement vehicles.
In New Zealand they use magenta/purple for heavy vehicle/wide load escort pilot vehicles for some wacky reason.
I could probably take a better photo if I ever thought about it, but a side-by-side of the six colors we've got on a homemade 80" MX7K.
Magenta... not too useful in most areas beyond funeral escort roles (depending on the color rules where you live), but Australia seems to use them more often (HazMat, escort, and a handful of other uses, which also vary between each territory).
