Does anyone know how to use the audio mute and wire a Motorola remote wires to play through the car speaker bypassing the need for a Motorola speaker? Thanks

Isn't there a way around that so the radio could be playing through the speakers and then mute when the Motorola radio activates?

if you have a PPV package, there is a built in audio mute on the upfitter harness that changes the radio over to communications

as a side note it only works as long as you choose to listen to it, it doesnt immediately mute and play traffic and go back to radio, you would miss the beginning of the conversation because of the delay. i use mine while on scene to amplify the radio traffic. regular listening is still done through built in/external speaker

That is what we have, but we can figure out how to make it work. When we touch the wire on the harness that fits into the VSIM it mutes the FM radio and the Motorola radio and no sound coming through the Vehicle radio.

This one has the street appearance group and the civilian console and it kinda looks stupid with the Motorola speaker mounts under the vents on the rear.

there should be a trigger wire to turn the radio off and then you would need a feed signal into the harness. what year do you have, ill try to find the schematic

2017. It is number 3 on the white harness adapter. Like I said when we touch the number 3 wire to one side of the remote mounts speaker wire adapter it mutes the FM radio immediately, however, we can't hear anything out the Motorola radio. Do we have to connect both the wires to the number 3 wire to hear a transmission?

there is the manual. if you read the function of the number 3 on the vsim

3 12v+ input
W640 18 GY/DG Audio Switch Mute Signal -
Sends request to vehicle radio
to mute the audio

that input when supplied with 12v only MUTES the radio, it is not an audio input

on the older models (i have a 10) there was a pin to apply 12v to mute the radio and then there were 2 more pins to connect each lead of the audio out into it so the radio could amplify it.

to use your radio to elimate the need for an external speaker you would need to utilize one of the aux in (either the one up front or the one in the trunk) and select AUX on the radio

there should be a lead in the trunk with an end if your running a remote head or there is the jack in the front
