I've recently purchased the Whelen Core C339 model with a legacy lightbar Aswell as 2 tracers and an inner edge rst bar and was wondering how to wire all of these devices to the core, the wiring diagrams from Whelen show the one wecanx port however it doesn't specify how to hook up multiple devices to the core and has thrown me for a loop. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Every WCX device gets constant power and ground. The other wires from each device get hooked together, and hooked to that single port on the Core. All greens together, greys together, and shield wires together. There is also a WCX network pass-through plug on the control head(if you aren’t using hand-held.) You can hook WCX devices to that as well. Once you get everything hooked up and running, don’t forget to set installation IDs on your tracers.

so essentially each device will have the standard black and red wires for power and ground and ill tie all the other wires together with the matching color essentially making it one plug to the core itself?

Yes. All the WeCanX wires tie in together and communicate through the J18 connection on Core.

So what if you have a front inner edge and a rear inner edge and you want them to come on separately how do you do that? Because if you wire all the greens greys and shields together won’t they both come on at the same time when a signal is sent to one or the other

That would be done through programming with Whelen’s Command software.

If both inner edges are wired to the light bar plug on the controller is the program able to tell the difference between the two. I would think with them being wired together no matter what you did in the program they would both come on at the same time.

I’m guessing the internal circuit board inside the inner/outer edges communicates with the Core and it differentiates each WeCanX device. Like it was said above, you would need to set installation IDs for Tracers to tell Core which one is driver/passenger.

I’ve had up to 7 WeCanX devices on the Core WeCanX connector and had no issues. You can hook up to 99 WeCanX devices on the Core.
