Local deputy wants a pair of pimp pods in the factory fog cutout of his '05 Impala. I'm thinking of wiring the pair of pimp pods into the wire which activates the HLF. I know most HLFs only require a 1/2 amp to activate them and the pair of pimp pods will require 2/3 of an amp.

Thoughts on this? I'm thinking the low amperage shouldn't be an issue when tapping into that wire. The HLF is a Whelen UHF2150B.

If I understand you right you are trying to keep from running another wire under the hood. You are wanting to use the wire that runs from under the pass side dash to under the hood that normally turns on the factory hlf. I am assuming the HLF is not installed but any way you look at it the factory wire should be of substantial gauge for just running those. This is assuming that I am understanding you right.

It's not he amount of amperage that is required to activate the HLF, but the amount of amperage you have available in the wire.

my guess is that he has a headlight flasher already installed and he wants to add on the pimp pods to the existing circuit . it should be ok buy check your wire size feading the h/l flasher activation, and what the fuse rating is.

The HLF is currently installed. The wiring is a 14g wire, leading me to believe it'll handle the amperage. I know the wiring will handle the load, I was just curious if any of this would possibly be a problem in any way to something such as the BCM due to this wiring already existing as part of the included wiring of the police package vehicle.
