I have this Aerodynic 24C with what looks like a shop number on the bottom of the frame. I believe it was last on a Las Vegas FD truck but who knows before that. Anyone seen a number like that before. Thanks Greg

ah the elusive 24C, the number engraved is probably an asset tag number or something similar.
I've seen engraving, asset tags and stickers.

AZ and NV commonly used CA spec bars.. this one may have lived its life completely in NV.

Does your 24C have the bulkhead mirrors on it?

Wow, a first generation 24C with the right grille and the right bulb holders. Truly hens' teeth. As Valkyrie said, the shop number could be from one of many municipalities. If this one is from NV, then it's likely that it did spend its whole life there until it was decomissioned.

Bulkhead mirrors were used on Aerodynics equipped with alley lights. Since this is a 24C, not a 24CA, the lack of mirrors is correct for this bar. Very nice early production 24C, I might add, and very rare these days.

Edited: see posts #6 and #7 below.

That is the Prevailing logic, but with C and CA bars this apparently is tossed out the window. Federal Documentation shows the mirrors in both variants. And since these bars are rare enough that the originals I have laid eyes on have all had them.

Oops! My bad! I pulled out my Federal Signal SPI and sure enough, the Model 24C and Model 24CA are standard with bulkhead mirrors.

Here is a pic of the tag inside of the bar. The bulkhead doesn’t show any signs of having them mirrors on.

My 24C has no evidence of bulk head mirrors either.

It was only the versions with alley lights that had the bulk head mirrors to give a flash to the sides.

Without the alley lights the flash went between the lampholders of the flashing lights to the sides.
