Hello to all members of eLightbars.

Let me introduce myself : my name is Christian TOUMPSIN. I live in a small European country called Belgium (you know : the famous beers and chocolades). I am 60 years old. Beside my work as a male nurse in an academic intensive car unit, I am also a volunteer collaborator of the Belgian Federal Police Historical Service. At the Police museum, I am specialist in the history of vehicles used by Belgian Police forces (before 2001). I also take care of the "technical" collections like the signal apparatus, the radars and other speed guns and the communications systems.

I wanted to become a member of your community in order to get some infos about emergency lights manufactured by American companies (Whelen, Federal Signal, ITT Sireno, Lectric Lites, etc.). Of course, You may always ask me about typical European emergency lights and siren (you know the famous pneumatic and electrical Hi-Low - Not the electronic version...).

I am also the proud owner of a former 1986 Volkswagen van of the former Belgian Gendarmerie (kind of Paramilitary Police force - like some of your State Police Corps - disbanded in 2001). This kind of van was for more than 10 years a typical vehicle for Gendarmerie stations in all Belgium.

The more iconic patrol vehicle of the former Gendarmerie was the VW Golf II GTi, well known as vehicle of the anti-gangster patrol.IMG_9136.JPG

It's a pitty, but I am not the owner of this car ! The photo was taken in 2013 prior the parade of the National Day (21/7/2013). Note that you can see in the background a current VW Golf GTi of a local police force.

By the way, from 1975 until 2001, I was also a volonteer ambulanceman and driver.

Take care !

Kind regards

Christian

Welcome to eLB! There are a lot of folks here with a lot of knowledge, so you've come to the right place to learn about US emergency lights. And we are glad to have another European member to help us learn as well! :)
