I'm finding it frustrating to find domes for my MX 7000 and Vista. Everyone on eBay sells them for ridiculous prices, try almost 700 for two pieces of small plastic. I've checked Galls, Zips.... Anyplace else online or in person to buy stuff for older bars? I need to make mine into amber so I can use it as a safety light this winter

Ebay tends to be high but you can find a deal if you keep searching.

As for new, probably not much available for the halogen erra. Plus nothing made from the manufacturer is going to be cheap. I thought code 3 was or recently ended making MX uppers. I did see some on Zips and seemingly reasonable too.

I think amber Vista domes will be tough to find on the used market but some are out there. Might need to buy a whole bar and clean up the lenses to get what ya need. I see amber MX bars with amber or clear domes in the $100 range fairly often in my general area.

Hazing and oxidation from domes can be removed, crazing can be stubborn to permanent.

Otherwise, I would definately make a post here searching for a specific type and color(s) of dome you are looking for.

I did put up an ad in the wanted forums about 4 days ago. I decided to keep working on my MX7000 to make into a safety/work light on my "rat rod/flat bed Ford ranger to use this winter for hauling my snowmobile and winter rat duties. I'm a lightbar enthusiast, so I just like having the MX on there, looks huge on a Ford ranger, lol. I got this bar for free from a local F.D that converted. They were going to toss them, so I saved them along with a LP Force 6000 and an old areodynic. Trouble is, none are amber, lol....I find that most bars I find are either red or blue... I never see anything amber other than ones on vehicles being used.

I did find some on zips, but didn't want to spend that kind of money. However I'm tired of searching and want the get my bar perfect before snow... So I'm going to get them. It's not really that bad of a price though and it is for safety.....and to gaze at in amazement watching the light like I when I was 9, lol the addiction is real

I personally love the MX7000. Easy to work on and very customizable. Sometimes with a time crunch ya gotta bite the bullet I suspect you will like the MX better then a Vista. Even though it goes edge to edge on the roof it probably still looks better then the 36". New domes are always nice and dress up the bar great too! Don't forget pics!

I just pushed the button on two amber upper/outer lenses off of zips, a tad under 200.00, whew. This free bar is no longer free, but I plan on having this thing forever and I love it. I wanted to get a center clear, but that was 69 dollars, so I decided that clean the original ..it's not too bad. Hardest part was deciding amber or clear, went with amber... I like color when the light is off. Now I just got to get the lower lens filters and replace the reds and blues. That is easy, plenty on eBay. Here is an older picture I took of my MX7000 on top of my Corolla, lol .. I'll update pics of it on my ranger with the Amber's on... Thanks!

If the bar was free and in good condition then that balances out the cost of the domes a bit. Even though $100 each feels a little high, they are new though. Keep them polished with Plastx and you will keep them looking good. Looks like a fun project.

I see. Well, the bar will look good though! No cloudy domes to kill the light output. I am a little jelous.
