I would not gut an intact vintage beacon for such a project, but if I had just a base and dome, yeah, neat idea.

Who said anything about gutting them? I think I could create quite a hallucinogenic effect with four or five rotating simultaneously in one room!

Mine. You can bypass the motor and just have the lights on if you didn't want it to spin.
