Looking for some programming help.

I have blue/white ion duos that I'm trying to get to flood white when I hit my scene/takedown button. I'm working with a Whelen Sapphire control box, so I know I'm very limited when it comes to getting fine tuned with the lights. Is there a way I can make the white override the blue when I turn it on? I'm content using only the blue for response mode, and I have white already set to steady burn, but I'm just trying to figure out how to make that white steady override the blue when I turn the scene/TDs input on.

Assuming that you have duos, and not splits, the model number should be I2E, not IONE. If you have one color set to steady, and one to flashing, the steady color will always override.

Yeah they're DUOs, not splits. I have the wire for the white light wired to its own input in the box to turn on with TD/Scene input in command. So you're saying because white is set to steady, when i turn it on it'll always override the blue? And to follow that up, when I turn it off blue should resume its normal flashing, correct? (when response mode is on, obviously).

You are correct.

Thank you. Now I'm having a new problem. I have brand new SOLOs in the rear window. They work, they were connected to power and ground. But the WHI/VIO pattern change wire isn't changing the patterns on either of them at all. I tried two different leads and two different power sources, and still no luck

You have to be doing something wrong. Ive installed thousands of Ions and never had one do that. If only one was doing it, id say you got a bad Ion, thats possible, but two? No way. When Im not using core, I either set the pattern on the bench, or when I turn them on, and touch the scanlock wire to the bare power wire.

I said the same thing, ive never had it happen. Its also a problem with the Strip Lights in the side windows of that same car. I replaced the old units that used to be in that cruiser with these new ions... I have a sneaky feeling the company that initially did all the wiring didn't do the ground wire correctly in any of the rear compartment lights. Would the ground not being... grounded(?)... cause it to not switch pattern when pressed?

Can you remove one of these lights, and just try it with a 12v power source on the bench? If the ground wasn’t right, I wouldn’t think that they would flash at all. If they are flashing, but won’t change patterns, the only thing that I can think of is something with the sync wire, that wire being shorted somewhere may cause the inability to switch patterns.

You'd think that would only be one of them though, no way both. Plus considering I'm having the same exact issue with the Strip Lights, which i had no part in installing, I have to believe it's something the upfitter did. When Im in again on Monday night I'll disconnect them and do it on the bench separate from the car and see if it changes. I'll keep you updated

I went in today and removed them, connected them to independent power and ground, was able to change patterns perfectly fine doing that... i have absolutely no idea what our original installer did when wiring those back lights but they screwed something up. Either way we're set now, thanks for your help!
