    Federal JetStrobe functioning now

Hello, everyone, again. I finally got my JetStrobe installed on my truck and all wired in, with all the known functions and patterns working great. I love it a lot and it's my first REAL lightbar, plus my truck looks real sweet with it. I pretty much wired the harness to the battery via...

    Thoughts on Vista

My Vista is off a New York State Trooper, patrol car. I think around 1996. Still searching for Amber domes in good condition. Got to get these reds off, because I'll get in trouble firing this thing up in the driveway, hahah. I'm like a moth hovering around cool lights. I can't help it.

    Thoughts on Vista

Oh I like it and keeping it. I have duties this summer at the race track doing push duties and picking up parts after a crash, stuff like that. Other guys have the cheap, LED mini bar stuff, so I will be the brightest out there, hahah. Just have to land those Amber domes and switch out with the...

    Thoughts on Vista

I think Federal was attempting to bring a better 360 degree viewing angle, with the Vista. Instead of going straight like a hawk or Mx7000, they made it oval shaped to get more of the front and back viewable from the side. Well, that's my guess, but it does fit well on top of my little ranger...

    Thoughts on Vista

Yepp my JetStrobe is all amber, although I do have red and clear inserts if I want to get my ass a big law violation. I'm a sucker for the old, big bars, loved them since a kid and always wanted one, but no reason for one until now(duties at a race track/lite towing). My JetStrobe is the...

    Thoughts on Vista

I got a cool Federal Vista this week for only 25 dollars in working condition and complete. It has some problems that are not a big deal and I'm going to fix it. Mainly someone rigged it up so just the rotators and front take downs work. It has 5 rotators, flashers front rear, take downs, alleys...

    Measuring amps/watts.

No power supply. I guess I'm coming off the battery, to my control head and then to the light bar, using a breaker for the main leads. I think that is the way to do it. If there is a better way I'm all ears. My setup will be a Federal JetStrobe or Vista with some grill flashers and rear...

    Measuring amps/watts.

    Good information, thanks.

    Measuring amps/watts.

I have a multimeter. What is the best way to determine the amp draw/wattage of a light bar such as a Federal Vista? I'm guessing measuring the current as the light is on.

Wanted Vista domes and wiring harness

Need amber domes for this Vista, series-A. And full wiring cable.

    Vista wiring diagram

I'll get with you later. I'm still looking around on it for anything broke or not working. So far looking good mechanically, except a hacked wiring job. Someone made a controller cable from four wires that only control a few functions.

    Vista wiring diagram

Yes it helps I was able to trace out some wires that were not original. Someone wired it so only a few functions will work. I plan to get this light 100% working, because it is nice shape. I got the rotators to fire up and golly it's bright. None of the wigwams or sweepers work, someone...

    Vista wiring diagram

I just got an old Vista rotator bar with some funky wiring issues. I need a wiring diagram and tried to find it on fedsig . This is an older Vista rotator bar. X132H225A series A 12 volt.

    Proper wiring.

I believe each function from the control head is on its own circuit? So if I have the entire light bar lit up and pulling max amps, it doesn't mean the entire load is being pulled off of one wire? I assume the load is divided up inside the control head through each function wire. I'm so...

    Proper wiring.

I'm about to finally install my Jetstrobe light bar on my truck. I want to add some grill lights later. I would come off the battery with a circuit breaker and into the control head, then to the lights? Should I go to some sort of distribution box that I can hook in some grill lights later...

    found:JetStrobe Amber Spacer/filters.

Update... I bought what I needed from a member here. I'm all set, and thanks. I guess this thread can be deleted

    found:JetStrobe Amber Spacer/filters.

I couldn't upload photos in the P/M. this is what I'm after. They measure 5x3 inches. The smooth ones go near the wig wags. That is the only place I have the smooth ones. Rest are the fresnal strobe lenses.

    found:JetStrobe Amber Spacer/filters.

Yepp, that's it. Most of them have those spacers and you cannot really see the strobes at all. On mine you can clearly see my yellow strobes. Not a big deal I just like things to be complete and I like the power off look of color in the clear domes. Like this blue jetstrobe. the outer strobes...

    Choosing controllers

Thanks, that is the best combination to do. I wrote it down so I don't forget. I think I'm missing the wire to engage low power and alternate flash pattern. I'll have to follow the diagram and possibly add those wires. The harness on it now is not the original and I think they didn't bother...

    found:JetStrobe Amber Spacer/filters.

I'm looking for the Ambered colored spacers that go between the strobes on my JetStrobe. As you can see mine has none, just the Strobes. I'd like this bar to be complete. Thanks.

    JetStrobe

Hooked my JetStrobe up to admire the lights ans insoire myself to get this thing all wired into the truck. The funny thing is, My camera phone could not keep up with the flash with a slow frame rate, hahha. It looks like it is flashing slowly in the video, but it was really fast in reality...

    Choosing controllers

Just found an SW300 on EBAY that is new, never installed or used for cheap. Gotta love EBAY, so I go that one too. I have now a sw400 and sw300 coming to me and I will see which one will be the best. I'm thinking the 6 button sw300 will be plenty fine. Front strobe, rear strobe, take downs...

    Choosing controllers

Yepp I've been studying like crazy and what you say is exactly correct. I already ordered a 100 amp breaker and I actually got an SW400SS control box off of eBay. My plan is to route and bench test the whole thing before permanent install. Thanks.

    JetStrobe

Cool. Mine are Amber, but I wish it had the spacer/inserts between the strobes like in the picture. Mine just has the strobe lenses. I might find some later used some place, no big deal. I just got a SW400SS controller for it, off of EBAY. Should be enough switches to run the whole bar. I...

    Choosing controllers

I have an old Federal Signal Jetstrobe light bar and need to connect up a controller box to it, but have not a clue what to get or look for. I'm guessing some main heavy power wires connect to the control box from the car battery and ground, then all the trigger wires are connected to the box...
  27. E

    JetStrobe

Also, I'm actually touching the trigger wires direct to battery with no fuse. Probably a bad idea looks like I need heavy red heavy black, main battery cables to a fused control box, then trigger wires hooked into the control box. An OEM wire harness would be nice, but probably hard to find. at...

    JetStrobe

I was told the cop had a "police" sign screwed on the top, and all the other jetstrobes I've seen don't have the chrome center either. I like it, makes it look classic and heavy. I don't think building a new harness would be too difficult. I think it's 16 guage and just have to map things out...

    JetStrobe

Well the wire harness on now does not coincede with the diagram in the manual at all. No orange wire, no red/white, the yellow wire controls left alley, according to diagram should control low intensity strobe. Also no heavy red or black main battery cable. I think this thing has been re-wired...

    JetStrobe

Made progress last night lit it up and is great. I was able to figure out what wire did what and I also labeled each to their function. This thing draws a lot of energy and found my clip lead getting hot, so I disconnected. I would assume that the main hot wire and ground would be a thicker...
