    Mounting straps for Toyota Tacoma

I have a Whelen liberty I am going to mount to my 2010 Toyota Tacoma. Whelen does not have a specific strap mount for this truck, to my knowledge, so I turn to the elightbars.org gods for insight. I have heard of different vehicle specific straps working for other cars, just wanted to check and...

    Suggestions requested

I have a pair of LHA 9000 HAW's I'd like to put in the front of my 2009 tacoma, either in the headlights or fog lights. Wondering where would be optimal/easiest placement. The headlights are "double" walled, which ive never worked with before, so I was leaning towards the fogs for ease of...

5 Must have items in your bunker gear.....

I'm trying to outfit my bunker gear, and wondering what everyone thinks of as "must have" items to carry. I figured 5 sounded like a good number. I currently have the basics, structure gloves, extrication gloves, hood, and a door chock. What should I start shopping for?

Need ideas for my FD's Expedition

2011 Ford Expedition, will be used as a chase/command unit. We just purchased a slide out drawer unit for the cargo area, and are in the process of brainstorming the cabinet design. I would love to see some pics of similar set ups. The drawer needs to house a jump bag, Lifepack 12, Road cones...

Pop-in, or flange style HAW strobe tubes?

Which do you prefer? pros, cons of each? I have a few of the pop-in style, but wondering if I should switch to flange style when these burn out. Also, how are the amber colored tubes? I'm thinking about putting a pair in my clear tail lights. Or I may just say heck with it, sell it all and...

Where do you get your uniforms?

Just curious where everyone gets the uniforms. My FD's SOG/SOP for normal shifts is department t-shirt or dress shirt and Dark blue pants. I have a pair of EMS pants from Propper, and love them, but they are expensive. We have screen printed t-shirts with a simple name and scramble on the front...

    My SS2000SM Died today :-(

Ran out to the truck for a call, reached down to flip the lights on, and my SS no workie! No lights, no nothing! Pulled it all out, no fuses blown, including the PICO fuse. I even have +12v to the connector that plugs into the siren. I did hear a couple clicks before I unplugged it the first...

Do amber HAW strobes really flash amber?

Planning to install Strobe HAWs in the rear on my 09 Tacoma, and was wondering if the amber colored strobe tubes really flash amber? I have tried the red, and they ended up looking pink. My other option is to move to LED HAWs, but they just don't seem to have the "pop" that the strobes do. Heres...

    Did I fry my SS2000SM?

Picked up an RJ-11 crimping tool today to replace the broken connector that plugs into the control head. The little clip thing that holds it in there was broken off, I had it held in with tape. In my excitement, I managed to completely reverse the order in which the wires are inserted into the...

    Whelen piercer II

Just bolted my edge bar to my 09 Tacoma, and the first thing I noticed was how yellowed the lenses look on my piercer compared to my TDs. Is there a way to take apart the piercer so the lenses can be freshened up? Thanks!

Newbie needs help with antenna mounting

I'm having a headache rack built for my new truck, and the guy is throwing on a couple tabs for mounting antennas. One will be a dual band VHF/UHF, and the other a CB. Since NMO style seems to be the most popular, I tried searching for an assembly that I can use, but all I can come up with are...

    Need help wiring a solenoid...

I'm working on installing my setup in my pickup, and wanted to make sure there is no "parasitic drain" on the battery. So, I figured I would use a solenoid wired to an ignition source. I picked up a "stock ford starter solenoid" from ebay for about $10. Looks like this...

    Who has a back rack?

Just wondering who has one, and how does a lightbar mount to it? I've been searching for close up pictures online, but can't seem to find any good ones. It seems to be a good solution to mount my edge 9000 on my new (to me) 2009 Tacoma. Any help, especially pics, is appreciated.

    Cencom TA questions

Ok, so this is probably a NOOB question, but bear with me. Right now I have a SS2000-SM, and the TA wiring is very straight forward, but what about the Cencom? I like the functions of the SS2000, but I'm not a big fan of the tones. I just want to see what it would take to make the switch. Any...
