    "2012 Dodge Ram 2500 HG2 Lighting Package"

Like the concept but the execution...not so much. Lights aren't nearly bright enough but I like the pattern - except for the license plate frame and side lights; TOO FAST! I own a Ram 1500 and like the way it looks, but I've never been a fan of the dually mega-cabs.

    Evolution Of The Federal Vitalite

My first exposure to the VitaLite was on the old show The Streets of San Francisco. I always wondered how the light stayed on the roof at speed over those hills:)

Aerodynic LAPD - External Alley Lights

I'm not aware of any steady burn requirement for the amber lights. CA laws state that emergency vehicles SHALL have a steady burning red light to the front and MAY have a flashing amber light to the rear. Before lightbars, LAPD used "can" lights with steady red on one end (front) and flashing...

Should volunteer firefighter pov light colors be recognized in driver training class?

ABSOLUTELY! In WA green lights are courtesy only and are being used less and less by departments because no one knows what they mean. As I've said before, the laws about "courtesy lights" should be that, if it is safe to do so, motorists should yeild the right-of-way - the emergency thier...

    2013 Tahoe Lafayette Marshal's Office

The interior is awesome, the lighting...TOO MUCH! Without seeing a video I can't comment on the flash patterns and rates, but too many lights confuse and disorient - not what you want when coming up behind a driver, or having one approach you when your stopped. Also, I don't know the law, but...

    Courtesy light schools of thought

In my opinion, the more lights one puts on thier vehicle in a courtesy light state they do so to more readily get other motorists attention and "trick" them into yielding. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, however if a crash occurs because of this someone's in big doo-doo. In WA for many, many...

    Local agency's new patrol car

When did Mill Creek get a K9? :) The markings look a lot like Lynnwood's, which have always looked sharp and clean to me. I like the lightbars as well - do you have any other info on other installed lights? I would imagine that pushbars would be a no-go since they're not already installed; I...

2013 Ford Taurus done by NYC Fleet safety

Looks good overall - I love the slow flash rate on the HLF! I don't think the HAW in the headlight assembly are very effective.

    Vancouver unmarked Ford PI responding

Yes indeed! Nice to see that some agencies get it - slower, non-seizure inducing patterns move traffic better and make responses more safe:)

    2012 Ram POV green lights

Very nice! I like the fact that the patterns are slow and methodical! Much more eye catching than the seizure inducing patterns favored by many:)

    New Whelen Dual Tone Siren

Can someone explain the reasoning behind this concept? Its been around a long time, but I don't get it. Being able to make two sounds at once is neat, but I dont see the advantage when trying to clear traffic. Changing up sounds makes motorists (and pedestrians) take notice, having too many...

    Work Related Smart Phones

My company uses Blackberry's exclusively specifically because of the encryption/certification and security (?) of RIM's network. They experimented with the iPhone and came back with a resounding NO! So far I haven't had any issue with the Blackberry; its fast enough to do the things I need for...

    Madera county Engine 19

While I like the off-axis lighting effect the Power Arcs have, I'm not sure it works well as an entire light package. I've always felt a light bar should be mostly for 360 degree coverage; everything else it might do is a bonus. And I don't know that the Power Arcs translate well in LED - I...

    Christmas themed lightbars/beacons

    2012 Durango Slicktop-Whelen

This one isn't as bad as some. I think people tend to go overboard because of the almost nonexistant power draw, but, to me, less is more. Lose the license plate frame lights and the fog light heads, turn each split into a solid and it would be golden. I'm also a big fan of headlight flashers...

Dept. Of State (Miami, FL. Division)

Interesing mounting location on the Tahoe, but I think the lights will be coated with mud and road grime quickly and be less effective. As for the Caravan, one word...WHY? Too many lights, too busy, TOO MUCH.

Setting #2 or #8; slower is better! It attracts attention and yet isn't so spastic as to confuse the eye.

MS Gulf Coast dispatched as a serious MVA with injuries

In my agency, passing on the right without VERY good reason will get you a day or two on Suspension Beach. We preach and preach to our populace "Move Right for Sirens and Lights" and set ourselves up for a huge problem if we disregard this. Our state law says we can disregard any traffic laws...
