    DEC light museum update 9/28/23

This guy is a maniac. A certifiable crazy-man. My only two thoughts.. "are these items articulated in a living will and would he like to make a new friend?" WoW.

Smith & Wesson Model 436H Beacon

Actual S&W beacons (not rebadges) are seriously rare. It look like the one you have is a match for the blue beacon on this catalog page.

Movies & Television: Police, Fire & EMS Vehicles

I'm guessing this was filmed in Canada. That's a full Dominion Automotive lightbar setup. Those were pretty popular, especially in Ontario, 40yrs ago.

    HELLA Lightbar

I've known about Hella headlights and some beacons for a long time. I've NEVER seen a Hella lightbar. This is seriously awesome. On a side-note their North American headquarters are about 12 miles from house, in Detroit's northern suburbs.

    Squad 51 Siren?

A lot of people immediately think this was a modified TwinSonic. But it was actually a Code3 SD lightbar. A 2600-series. Some agencies actually placed a speaker in that center section naked, uncovered.

The new catalog section, and the work I have ahead

A lot of people will love and appreciate this effort! Sincerest thanks to all who are part of it.

    Tek-Lite Inc. beacon

It looks like they don't even have a website. But they do have an anemic Facebook page. They describe themselves as "a military lighting company." https://www.facebook.com/tekliteinc/?ref=page_internal

Those ole tri-beams have been around for a long time. Under many brands. Very effective for a single bulb. I actually saw someone post a video where he'd installed these tri-beam fixtures at each end of stripped out lightbar with inboard mirrors. I was a little stunned with how well it worked.

These are from a 1978 issue of JCW. I looked forward to my free copy every month as a kid. Until they dropped warning lights almost entirely in the late 1980s.

Movies & Television: Police, Fire & EMS Vehicles

A screenshot from the movie "Miami Supercops" (1985). This is actually an Italian-produced film. It's so bad I insist you watch just the opening credits for laughs. An hysterically bad ripoff of Miami Vice. .. anyway, a very cool shot of a group of Hialeah police cars (Impalas and Diplomats)...

I bid on this catalog like crazy On eBay. Once it got over $36 I was out. But the screenshots are worthy of sharing here.

    Cheetah EEC LB7AD lightbar

This thing is stunning. I've always known about Cheetah brand lights. But I've never seen this model in my life. I would almost suspect that it's a frankenbar. But it is way to neat and clean to not be a production model. This was WaY ahead of it's time. Being an all-light lightbar, the use of...

    Fed Sig & Whelen Purple/Violet/Magenta

The $45 price listed in 1956 is seriously expensive. That translates to $450 in 2021 dollars.

Need help - Dietz Omni-Chief Lightbar.

Somewhere in one of these threads on the Dietz Omni-Chief I remember seeing someone mention that surgical-grade tubing makes a good substitute for those belts.

    MI Law Enforcement

They do still run all-red, forward-facing lights on the push-bumpers. Not sure if this throwback graphics scheme is temporary or not. They were brought in with the intention of celebrating the agency's bicentennial. But the public response to this look is been tremendous. Maybe they'll keep...
