Just my lousy 2 pennies. For all the years LAPD and other depts that just used the soup can lights with no complete light coverage that there was not a significant amount of intersection accidents that made them switch to at least one beacon. Just why how large LA is that they could not of...

I built a Jo-Han Cadillac Ambulance using the red Fed-Sig light for the NYPD version of the Jo-Han '68 Plymouth Police Car and used the LAPD's siren in the middle. Wished I still had em.

Minnesota Highway Patrol used a oval shaped "Stop" light in the 60's on the right front fender. Then in the early 70's went to a rectangled shaped on the center of the hood.
