    Wanted Remote/handheld siren

I'm looking for a remote handheld siren with light controls. I'd love to find a fenix storm or typhoon brand, but at this point money is king, so I'm open to other brands if the price is better. If it comes with a speaker, that's a plus. Let me know if anyone has something they'd like to part...

    Wanted Fed sig FireRay

I'm checking to see if anyone has any FireRay strobe assemblies for sale. My volunteer department recently purchased a used engine equipped with these, and 4 of them are out or missing. I could also use one or two red lenses for the same. We considered upgrading to LED, but it would be cost...

22' Boston Whaler Guardian Boat with Federal Signal Valor

I don't see any issue with this lightbar on the boat. Realistically, if they have the money, then why not? I could see where the flood options (if equipped) would be fairly beneficial, particularly on the water. The agency I work for has several boats, one has a mini-edge and one has a small LED...

Lebanon Police Dept upgraded light bars UPDATED 6-6

having worked there (LPD) for a couple years, I'm glad to at least know they've got someone decent doing the installs now. Those cars were and apparently are still, a mess.

How many of you are on more than 1 department?

I did volly for two fire departments, since I live nearly equidistant from both of them, however the chief of one passed a verbal rule that you couldn't double hat, so I left. Now, I volly for one fire dept, volly for county EMS, work in communications for another county's EMA, and just started...

Where do you get your uniforms?

My volly FD uses a local supplier or buys from online, both of my paid jobs get their uniforms from CMS in Nashville. Best bet is probably some of the websites mentioned though, as far as cost effectiveness is concerned.

    Probable cause to stop

If he used the license plate light as RS/PC to stop you, he would have found something else had that not existed. I grew up around WV, VA, MD and DC, and only once did I ever get stopped for tag lights... and that time it was by a Woodstock city officer, because they were green instead of white...

    school me on bunker gear

To the OP: If you're not going to be doing structural firefighting, don't buy structural firefighting gear. It's incredibly expensive, difficult to move in with dexterity, difficult to clean correctly, and hotter than hell to wear for any length of time. If you're using it primarily for...

Official "Whacker" or "Screwed Up Install" Thread

I'm nearly at a loss for words... Nearly. That's impressive for me, because I almost always have a smart-assed opinion to give. I know a few people like this guy. Scary to know they're spread so far and wide. lol. On a side note, I have what appears to be the same dash light from STL (except...

Trooper Pulls Over Mayor, Mayor U-Turns and Immediately Pulls Over Trooper

That was the funniest thing I have seen in a long time. I do agree the trooper was very professional... I don't think I'd have stopped, was I in his shoes. Mr. Preacher is an asshat. Professional courtesy only goes so far, and it's just that, a courtesy, not something to be expected or demanded...

our "Vintage" EMA van. what to do with it...

I don't agree with all your arguments J, but I'll back you up to a point. In TN, the Emergency Management Agencies (EMA) who I assume Jarred is probably a volunteer for, are somewhat of a catch all, do all agencies in some parts of the state. I work for Wilson County EMA, we handle...

    Lightbar on a POV

?????? :duh: I'm not even sure I can come up with a decent response to this... But I'm gonna try. So you're saying that in Indiana, no one can run blue and red together, and the brake lights count as a red light for regulation purposes? I'm immensely curious now, just my nature I guess...

    2012 Honda Pilot EMS POV

Not a bad looking install, though I wasn't incredibly thrilled with the video, lol. I do like the vertex on the hatch for lighting though. How about an equipment list of what's in the vehicle and some still photos?

    Lightbar on a POV

My little Sonoma has mostly interior lighting. It's pretty visible in the windshield even when off, so I can't say low-profile, but I didn't want to mount an exterior lightbar on such a small truck. I did however just get a 9000 series mounted on my Caprice that I never drive (fuel costs $$$,)...

Does this kind of thing happen often?

The answer would be yes, much more often than anyone would think. Especially with the widespread use of mobile data terminals, looking up information is fast and easy, and doesn't require dispatch to check each tag or license anymore over the radio. Like the article says, it's not something that...

Official "Whacker" or "Screwed Up Install" Thread

I was going to say, other than the fact that it's pretty whacker-ish, it's not a bad looking install, the colors are just all wrong. lol I wasn't digging the console setup either, particularly the clipboard stand along with the laptop mount. Too redundant.

Guess He Didn't See That Coming!

I don't know what state law says there, and cops don't generally follow it with regard to siren usage anyway, (argue if you want, you know it's true,) but in TN any authorized emergency vehicle that is running lights MUST be running a siren as well. The only exception to that law is for law...
