    So FHP finally ditched Code3...

The Federal setup looks a lot better than the Code 3 lights they were using. Unfortunately, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey just switched from Federal Signal to Code 3 on all vehicles.

    NY and other Observations

The MTA stopped using the flashing blue lights on their Select Bus Service buses several years ago, the now use an LED sign with a blue background instead. I have seen some MTA sedans with Blue/White lights to the front and Red to the rear, but they are not too common. Recently they bought a...

    Moto APX6000xe FDNY mic clip??

If you are using the XE remote speaker mic, the replacement button from radio tech will not work. You will need to order NNTN8749, which is the button for the XE RSM that is comparable with Boston Leather radio straps with FDNY style attachment.

    FedSig New Product - 04.10.14

Mini Vision SLR? I think they have been out since the full sized bar came out. I know the Port Authority Police use them on all there new SUVs.

NYC MTA Camrys' with blue lights? What are these guys?

Here's where it get really odd, NYCT employees are state workers but they are paid by the city and their retirement plan is through the city also. Those who work for MTA Bus, Long Island Railroad, Metro North Railroad, Statan Island Railroad, and MTA Bridges and Tunnels are State employees but...

FDNY Trying out the Vision SLR

The same could be said about mounting an SLR on a fire truck which the FDNY has done. While a "V" shaped bar does provide more 360 degree warning, it also provides more intersection warning than a linear bar does. I've seen two "buses" with these bars in Queens this week and they look great.

    Reversible reflective jackets?

I have one from Blauer, yellow on one side and dark navy on the other. It's class 2 ANSI 107 or 207 compliant. I use it in place of a safety vest when on the tracks at work. It was about $150 and well worth it.

    2012 dodge pickup - nypd

Just in case it needs to be used for enforcement or and emergency response. Just the other day I saw about 10 officers get out of a school safety van, they were real cops, guns and all.

FDNY - NEW Rescue 1 Reporting For Duty - 2/14/12

The eagle is the company logo, almost every house in the city had something painted on the doors, but there trying to get rid of that.

Commissioner Kelly prohibits cops from wearing NYPD merchandise

The turd can't run again, after he "won" his third term, he reversed the whole no term limit thing that made it possible for his 3rd term. I'm just glad that crime is down so much in my city that the NYPD can now police the wardrobes of it's own members.

    MTA's NYC Transit Vehiles

The TA is a big agency and they buy alot of trucks at one time. When they do that, they install the same equipment on all of them, then they look and see "well track dept. needs 3 suburbans, infrastructure dept. needs 5 vans, signal dept. needs 2 box trucks." Then they see what they have and add...

    aerodynic led

The FDNY has been using them for a few years now, the two mini bars on the outside have halogen rotators while the middle bar is all LED.

    NYPD Spotted with Vision SLR

The only TA trucks that run red to the front are emergency response trucks which do not have sirens. I have yet to see a TA tow truck with red to the front. All TA trucks have had amber to the front and red to the rear since the early 90's, it's noting new.

fdny/nypd both on scene and accidentaly drop a car on a victim......yikes !!

Many times ESU shows up before the FDNY. Just last week I responded to a "12-9" which in the Transit Authority means that someone was hit by a subway train. It happened to be some kid about 16 to 19 who was writing graffiti in the tunnel. ESU showed up a good ten minutes before the FDNY and was...

Any idea what this lightbar is worth?

Thanks for the reply's, I am thinking about selling this bar but I want to caution anyone who may want it that I have no idea what works and what doesn't. I know there are no wires coming out of the bar so i can't test it, plus I don't have the electrical know how to test it. I'm also unsure, if...

Any idea what this lightbar is worth?

I got this lightbar from a friend a few weeks ago and I was wondering how much it's worth. The tags say it's a Whelen 80H. Other then that, I know nothing about this bar. There are 6 rotators, 4 blue and 2 white, alley lights, take down lights, and rear lights. [Broken External...

Vincennes City without their only Rescue Truck

That and NYPD ESU does it with less men. They can do everything a rescue company can do aside from going into a burning building.

    New NYPD Dodge Charger video

Oh man that Vision looks nice, now I have to go look for it next time I'm in Midtown. The NYPD patrols all the highways in NYC and is one of a few city police departments in the nation that has it's own highway patrol. I have seen them use the bars a few times, but the real advantage of them...

Security Vehicles... What your company uses..

I forget what their legal status is, but they are volunteers, they do not carry guns, they can only make an arrest when directed by an actual police officer. They are really like security guards where they observe and report.

Security Vehicles... What your company uses..

That's your opinion and your welcome to it no matter how incorrect you are. The only civilian patrol I have ever seen while living in Brooklyn have been the Shomrim Patrols.

Security Vehicles... What your company uses..

Let me try and explain this without sounding like a racist. The civilian patrol is this group called Shomrim, they area a neighborhood watch found in the Hasidic Jewish communities in Brooklyn. They kinda like a neighborhood watch, but they all have NYPD ID cards and they have a very bad...

Security Vehicles... What your company uses..

Almost every "police" dept. in the city looks like real NYCP cars now. The hospitals have "police" cars that look like real RMPs and so do Shomrim patrols. Hell, even the new traffic and school safety cars are while with blue strips and LED Vision bars. [Broken External...

Semi Slick Top Suburban Incident Command

That's awesome looking. I have seen lights on the luggage racks before, one of the Hatzolah groups in Brooklyn has an SUV that has some kind of LED bar under the front and back cross beams. You don't notice them until there on.
