Reducing Speaker Volume for Siren Testing

Are you guys soldering on your wires to the LPAD? Any issues there? I just ordered one to quiet down my Omega 90.

Running 12v DC equipment on 120v AC (indoors)

Jennifer, I have tried using two battery chargers for a MX7000 project I am working on and both underpowered the bar horribly. One had 85A start assist and the other 50A start assist. I am thinking that since they are newer somehow without a battery inline, they don't detect the need for higher...

    Dual Arges in action

The fleet dealer installed it and I guess they didn’t wire it that way. I will most likely just cut the wire to the lights. It’s way too bright. I didn’t want it in the first place, but now that I got it, I got to make do.

Now that I have one, the controller lights are way too bright at night with no way to dim them! Sucks.

    Federal Signal Pathfinder Siren/Light controller

Does it have the same sound if you are running Unitrol wail and tap the horn for momentary yelp and then starts the wail on high again like the older unitrols?

Yeah. I saw an old LAPD show/documentary with a box body caprice in it with the 480K mounted in the dash like what you are describing.

What's the worst lightbar made by a well-known company? (FedSig, Code 3, Whelen)

We liked the looks of the Blade ok. They were great new....but as time went on, they leaked and went bonkers. Parts stopped working. Condensation in the lenses.

What's the worst lightbar made by a well-known company? (FedSig, Code 3, Whelen)

We had the Tomar Blade bars 07-09 which all seemed to have massive problems and when the warranty ran out we were on our own. We had such a bad taste in our mouths that we have been slicktop ever since we deadlined the cars that had those bars on them So about the last 10 years. I just asked...

Are compact siren speakers with short sound paths efficient?

Is the ES100C close enough to output of the AS124 federal speaker? They don't publicly list a dB rating which is annoying when trying to compare. I am trying to spec out parts for a 2021 Tahoe build.

    Feniex Hammer

We run the 295SLSA6 and sometimes it will match up with a tone but many times it doesn't. With wail, sometimes I just get a solid "BOOOOOOOOOOO" from the Hammer. If this happens, I try another tone and see if it will synch. If not, I just turn the dang thing off because it sounds like sheet...

Old AL & TN Trooper Videos with 80s and 90s Patrol Units

You might like this 1990 Alabama Trooper Pursuit then: Trooper pursuit Montgomery Co. AL 1990 (Music stops in the video at about 2:20 in video.) Also 1991 video of the same trooper stopping a stolen vehicle with the assistance of a plain clothes ABC agent. Alcohol Beverage Control Board: Felony...

Old AL & TN Trooper Videos with 80s and 90s Patrol Units

This has different shots of Trooper cars (mostly 85-87 Crown Vics, 1 1988 Vic) and a few box body Caprices. There is a shot or two of the 93 or 94s which were new when this video was shot. Watch all the way to the end as there are random vehicles running lights and some sirens. Sounds like PA...

    New Patrol Tahoe

I've already been in 2 pursuits. The Tahoe handled fairly well. The brakes need help though. And it doesn't accelerate as fast as the Charger I did have, but I will be ok. Both pursuits ended on mountains. 1 bailed on me behind a garage ran on foot down the backside of the mountain and got away...

    So FHP finally ditched Code3...

We have one SA-500 Carson that actually sounds pretty good. We didn't go Feniex sirens because of the toy sound. I had a Tomar 940 for 3 years and didn't like it. As a rookie, I had a few cars that I drove because they all were unreliable. My assigned car had a Unitrol Omega with series 9000...

    So FHP finally ditched Code3...

I I wanted to go FS Pathfinder, but they went with Whelen. The double AS-124s on the FHP car kick some sound out! We went with 2 Tritons to save about $80 per vehicle. I didnt mind the Code 3 Z3 siren, but it too was more money.

Chevy put a defective connection on the relay between the 2 batteries and the local dealer supposedly fixed it. Well, went back to have patterns changed up today and the lights began to cut on and off and fade. The wig wags stopped working in both headlights and were dim. The auxillary battery was at 8 volts! So,now my new ride is at the Chevy dealer to check on the battery and solenoid between the 2...

I doubt amber will be added. None of our vehicles have amber on them and they want them mostly the same. As far as the rear patterns, I'm going to have a supervisor observe my truck on our busiest highway that has traffic 70+ on it and see if he has any problems seeing me at a safe reactionary...

Thanks for the input and advice. The shop we use hates to install mirror beams because it takes too long. They stay backed up. I found out today that they inadvertently corrupted my encryption key in my radio. So I got to go back and get that fixed.

Wail v. Yelp- really make any difference?

The brand of siren can make a difference too. I have few people move out of my way with a Tomar on the highway. However, we have an old Expedition with a Carson 500. People pull out of the way for that. We took a Whelen 314 speaker off a 2004 Crown Vic that had been used as a door prop and put...

I just got a new 2019 Tahoe. The installer was new and did split flash on many of the light heads. I am going to try it for a bit to see how visible it is/isnt. I am thinking of having 2 takedown lights wig wag on the Brookings Eclipse visor bar for extra punch in mode 3. What you guys think...

    Triton question

We wound up going with 2 Triton speakers and they sound ok with the Whelen 295 Siren. We also went with the Feniex running board lights, Fusion 200 bar in the side windows (rear), a Fusion 600 on push bumper and a Fusion 800 in rear window. Other Feniex products were B/W cannons in the reverse...
