    Help Me Pick A Siren

Yup - they're still available through North American Signal's site (the link is practically hidden and you have to go through a few menus to even find mention of their sirens), as well as some third party sites. I'll have to pick one up someday...

    Grote 7620?

IMO the best 4-beam beacon you can get these days is a North American Signal 400-X. Pricey, but worth it and plenty of dome color options. http://catalog.nasig.com/item/revolving-warning-lights/revolving-lights-series-400x/400x-a Tri-Lite also makes one, and I've heard decent things about...

    Weird NYPD ESU Truck

Ah, that could be it too. The driver seems to have his left thumb on that horn quite often when it's in view, but maybe that was a comfier driving position.

    Weird NYPD ESU Truck

I think that this is a clip demonstrating the manual yelp from the NYPD PA300's. Start at 1:09 for an awesome shot of a Caprice RMP leaving the 73PCT parking lot, and the actual manual tone starts at around 1:24. It looks like the driver is using the horn ring to activate the tone. You'll...

Who made the best rotating halogen dash light?

Additionally, I figure PowerArc should be mentioned as a contemporary option. Though they're not fully rotating, their oscillating dashlights seem to be pretty bright judging from what I've heard and found on YouTube.

Who made the best rotating halogen dash light?

The FireBeam is probably one of the best dash lights out there IMO, but the Dashlaser isn't a slouch either. I am quite partial to North American Signal's offerings as well. http://catalog.nasig.com/item/revolving-warning-lights/revolving-lights-bbp-series/bbpp-a

    Am I crazy?

I'm always happy to see more sealed-beam rotating beacons out there. Nothing pops quite like them, and +1 on their usefulness in cold weather climates thanks to the heat they tend to generate. The North American Signal 400X is incredibly impressive in person IMO.

Looking for a new duty flashlight

No tailcap switch, but the Maglite ML150LR fits all of your other criteria. Mine is pretty bright, and since it's C-cell sized it doesn't have all of the weight of the full-size Magcharger. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078HDR4WX/?tag=elightbars-20

    Positive Positive Dealings with MtnMan

I previously requested the construction of numerous SP Mark VII wiring harnesses from Kent, along with the repair of a Mark VII that wasn't outputting any tones. Most recently, I sent over a non-working PA300 to him for repair as well. He went above and beyond on all requests - the harnesses...

    Old NYPD electronic sirens

Here's a question for you all. Of the Mark VII's that I've heard, some are generally higher pitched than the usual sound I expect from these. Were these variations from the factory, could age have something to do with it, or is there another explanation for this? Here's a comparison video to...

    Flashlight light opinions wanted.

Maglite has the new ML-150LR out. They're made in the USA, supposedly quite good, and are not nearly as hefty as the old D-cell Magcharger (which they still offer in an LED version these days). https://www.brightguy.com/product/maglite-ml150lr-rechargeable-flashlight/...

Wanted WTB Signal Stat/SP Siren Box

Yeah, wasn't the Mark VII standardized around '77/78? And on that note, do we know what years the previous models (Stat VI, Stat X, etc) were used?

Anyone bidding on this Signal stat 374 beacon?

While I assume the initial cost would be substantial, that is definitely an interesting option. Out of sheer curiosity, where would one even begin with such an endeavor? How many companies could be willing to dedicate time/tooling to make custom casts and/or molds, and how labor intensive is...

Anyone bidding on this Signal stat 374 beacon?

Took me long enough, but here's a video. It turned out that the bulb I thought was blown wasn't - the bracket/holder that it slotted into was bent slightly and wasn't making a good enough connection with the bulb. A bit of bending back into shape and it was good to go, but I ordered new bulbs...

Wish I could have made the trip over there to have seen it at least once!

Good riddance to the Ford Taurus/PI?

I think it was mainly due to how much of an investment the platform needed really. The St. Thomas Assembly plant tooling was worn and required replacing, new federal guidelines (like the requirement of electronic stability control) kicked in for the 2012 model year IIRC, and Ford just didn't...

Reducing Speaker Volume for Siren Testing

This thread should be of some use to you. https://elightbars.org/forums/threads/reducing-speaker-volume-for-siren-testing.628/ For testing I usually just plug the speaker I have full of towels and put it into a box with thick blankets on top of it. Seems to muffle it enough.

Good riddance to the Ford Taurus/PI?

I think the biggest issue with sedans these days is that safety regulations and modern styling diminished or otherwise eliminated their benefits. You can barely see out of a Taurus thanks to its incredibly thick pillars and high belt-line. Initially I felt like I was sitting in a tank with...

Anyone bidding on this Signal stat 374 beacon?

I ended up winning that auction. I stumbled across this thread when the price had already surpassed Crownfire's limit, and I put in a bit of a joke max bid of $130 in the last moments of the auction. It was at $125 and I didn't expect my bid to actually surpass the high bidder at the time...
