Our family ranch complex has a few satellite sections that aren't far from the border, each year we get more and more cartel traffic crossing parts of it. We've found everything from trails and camps, to drug caches and bodies. Being a working operation, ranch rifles and pistols were always the norm for predator control, putting down livestock, and nabbing game when the opportunity strikes.
Today we gear up for self defense against heavily armed intruders as more than once we (along with neighboring ranches) have taken shots from intruders.
I'm a pilot and do all of the flying for the family, most of our satellite sections have groomed landing strips for easy/fast access. A number of them have been used for dropping off bales by cartel pilots, and the shipping containers we use at them for storage have been ransacked and pilfered. We started locking them, so they brought torches to cut their way in.
Such a shame
