I have a customer who is looking for some heavy duty inverters installed on his service trucks for operating drills and such. I have used a few different brands of inverters in the past, but I wanted to see what people were using for real heavy duty inverters. I would need something that could handle 1800 watts minimum. Looking for peoples experience and opinions.

I have an Aims 2500w and it works well. I've also dealt with their customer service when I had some technical questions and they responded promptly.

We use both Tripp Lite and Dimensions. Both work well but you do pay for that. The kind we have on our trucks cost almost a $1000.00

John,

On your 2500W, are you running a bank of batteries to support it, or are you going straight off the engine/system battery? Alot of the larger ones I've looked at suggest that their inputs are 150-200A, and show their wiring suggestions connected to a battery bank.

No, I only have a dual battery set up in my truck. Untill I upgrade the alternator it won't run at it's full capacity. But I've run a coffee maker and hair dryer before. In a pinch I can always hook up another vehicle with some jumper cables if I need more juice, but I would like to get a bigger alternator. And yes, I have 1ga wiring w/ a 200a fuse.
