1980 Ford Fairmont CHP police car

Hello Folks and thank you for allowing me to join your group. I have a 1980 Ford Fairmont and am restoring it to CHP livery. I am looking for a set of deck lights like the one pictured...only need a pair for the driver's side but will take a set of 3 not to bust up a set.

Looking for a complete set with housings and bulbs, Red and amber.

Also looking for the flip-down red steady burn that was mounted in the front upper windshield area. If anyone has some vintage radio equipment from this era that would help as well.

Thank in advance

I never knew CHP used the Fairmont, or that red/blue strobe setup on the roof.

In the early 80s Ford gave the CHP3 Fairmont to test along with Aspen volaris the Malibu and the nova because it was going to the midsize Car group those lights that are on the roof or something that Whalen engineering gave them to try out definitely nothing I’m gonna be putting back on my car cause it looks Stupid.

Make contact with a ham radio club in your area. Chances are, you can find what you need through a ham.

CHP Never did use a "flip down" red light, they either used Federal Signal SML2-RB in the windshield Steady red flashing blue, and/or the driver's side spotlight was a PAR46R 4001R

In the late 70’s early 80’s?
Not in the 70's they used only the Spotlight. Around 1972ish in area's such as LA, SF, Sacramento where there were high volume of traffic, they tried out roof rack mounted Steady red driver's side, Steady blue Pass/side, and amber rear behind the red, another blue behind the steady blue, these were alternately flashing, some had a 55watt speaker center. Then in 71' or 72' The Twinsonic lightbar was the bar they chose but it wasn't every patrol unit either. Then 1980's I new the Federal Signals rep. that got the CHiPs to go to the SML2 mirror lights.

It seems like the California Highway Patrol, innovators that they have always been, have quite the following. Does Texas have a state police agency with anything of a storied past?

I am not sure of the question… LOL

I mean, the TX State Troopers are part of the Texas Dept of Public Safety (highway patrol division). I can’t answer to a “storied past” though.. ?

I’ve tried reaching out to Austin Fleet Services who outfitted the 90’s era vehicles but was told all of their records are purged due to age. I don’t have any leads if anyone does have copies of such documents like you had listed for the CHP.

I do belong to a few forums but there’s not much that I can find via the forums and I do not belong to any other social media platforms.
