2011 Dodge Durango Citadel - ***NEW INSTALL***

First off, I know its been a long time since I've been on the boards... Life kinda got in the way with my son being born, so he took all precedence.. lol

Anywho... I still have the Durango, and it still has the blue set-up on it (51" FedSig Valor, 911ep TDWL39 in the grill, Feniex B/W Cannons in the reverse lights)

But this is a different build for the Durango... Recently I got promoted in the FD and given clearance to run reds/siren, so here's what I got (so far)...

Front:
- FedSig ILS, all red, was a solid bar, but I custom split it to fit my windshield. I was nervous that my tint strip would effect the light, but it punches through no problem and hides it nicely... lol

- Whelen UHF-2150 HLF

Sides:
- Feniex T-300s, R/W/R, custom made by me using dummy T-4 heads running off of a Whelen ULF-44

Rear:
- FedSig ILS, all red, only had to some slight trimming to the outside edges of the shroud/frame, and remove the outer reflectors to get it to fit. I may try and trim the reflectors and get them back in the bar. Tucks up perfect on the top of my liftgate.

- Feniex Cannon 360s, red, in the tail lights.

Controls:
Feniex 4200 (for now)

Currently for a Siren I'm running a Sho-Me (I believe) undercover siren (that I found in my menagerie of equipment), and a Whelen Speaker on the Whelen Durango bracket. I have the A/H run off my Feniex 4200, and I found an ON-OFF-ON switch to run the siren tones until I can find a different siren/light control device. Thinking of a CenCom Just so I can have a PowerCall type siren... (Flame all you want, I like PC)
120202691_823686905106495_348843524214195834_n.jpg

Waiting to be installed:
- Feniex F12 Apollos, R/W, to be installed under the mirrors
- Feniex Fusion 180s, R/W, to be installed on my 1075 License Plate Bracket for Intersection Warning

Still Want:
- A pair of grill lights... Not sure what I want for grill lights, but something with a large footprint
- Siren/Light controller. I want to keep my 4200 and use that for my Blue set-up and get something separate for my Red set-up...

And of course, what you've all been waiting for... The Video!!! I'll take a better one in a few days, this was just a quick walk-around...

And yes, I know that one head on the drivers side of the ILS is out... I've tried everything I could to get it to work, but I think its a dead section... So if anyone has a line on and ILS Inner Drivers side board, I'm interested...

Welcome back! Nice setup and use of existing equipment modified for the Durango. I recently got my Durango done too (after 4 years) LOL.

Congrats on the promotion and the new addition to the family!

Added some intersection warning over the weekend...
I found my 1075 LP Bracket and planned on installing a pair of R/W dual dolor Feniex Fusion dummy heads on it... Well after installation and wiring, the heads weren't acting like they were supposed to, so I removed the Fusions and installed a pair of R/W dual color Feniex F12 Apollos instead...

Next up for install...

120764684_365008667969677_4433595771202929662_n.jpg 121034190_3531263453603092_2347659900369759603_n.jpg

Since these didn't work as intersection lights (might have been a compromised wire in one of the runs from the rear to the front. When I first started installing items on the Durango I installed multiple extra wire runs for expansion and such) I'm gonna use these at my mirror lights... I think these will work better for mirror lights with their bigger footprint, plus I found a pair of Feniex swivel brackets floating around in my stockpile of parts. Hopefully I can get these installed and wired on my next days off. These should help give my that little more side warning that I think the install is missing...

Other than getting a siren/controller for my red set-up, this install should be done (for now...? LoL)

any way to get more of a left/right flash pattern with the Reds? I think you'll get better attention that way vs the "blob" that it appears like right now. You have the right type of light heads, just need the patterns synced a bit and then you'll have a very lean mean... Durango! I like it otherwise!

Trust me, if there was a way to sync it all, it would be synced... Theres no way to sync the ILS bars with any of the other lightheads in my set-up. Plus the Feniex lightheads (Cannons, and Apollos) don't work well with external flashers.

The lights in my rear side windows, mirror lights (when Installed), and grill lights (when installed) will be all synced because they will be run off the same flasher (ULF-44).
The Front and Rear ILS bars are synced with each other, because they are fun off the same CID box, but they can't be synced with anything else...
The Apollos in the front and the Cannons in my tails can't be synced with the other stuff... I might be able to sync the Cannons and the Apollos together, depending on their build dates/firmware.

This build was 100% made with equipment that I already had laying around in my menagerie of lighting equipment. NOTHING in the build has been purchased recently, everything has been sitting in my possession for at least 2 years... lol

Well, upon further testing, I guess these just don't play well with the ULF-44 flasher... :(
I direct wired them to power/ground and put the trigger leads directly on my flasher and they just turn on steady...

Now I'm on the hunt for something to use in their place...

Since I have a spare grill assembly hanging in my garage, I decided to do some testing tonight... Played around with some Whelen 500s (LIN & TIR) I had laying around... Cut out a section of the "honeycomb" so that the lighthead is recessed.
This should be installed later this week depending on the weather, and If I get some flanges to secure them... Not sure of I'll add 2 more in the top grill inserts or not...

Looks good to me! Can you just remove the grill on your Durango?

On mine I have to remove the whole front bumper assembly which has deterred me to add anything in the grill for mine :(

No, the bumper cover has to come off to remove the grill... This is actually the stock grill from my Durango. I replaced it with a color matched one when I hit a deer a few years ago... So this one is laying around for testing purposes...

I've had the bumper and grill off of this thing so many times, it only takes a few minutes... lol

Wasn't able to make any progress on the grill lights over the weekend... Had a cold snap, so needed to get my camper winterized and stored, plus winterize the house...

But tonight at work I got the 500 series flanges trimmed down a 1/4" so the lights aren't sticking off the grill. They not sit nice and inset in the grill sections. Hopefully later this week I can get the wired into my ULF-44.

Plus I need to Clean up/re-do my wiring and equipment location. I kinda went "quick n dirty" with installing my red stuff just to get it running... lol I'm going to try and make a nice equipment board to clean everything up...

Got my grill lights installed and wired up... Sadly, after I got it all installed and back together, I noticed that the grill lights point downward a good bit... But they are still plenty visible forward... I have to make some shims for the lights and that issue will be solved.

As of right now, the build is "done"... lol (are they ever really...?)
Lighting wise, I want to add some kind of mirror light on my side-view mirrors... That should eliminate the dead zone on the side... The only other thing I'm thinking about is a second controlling system (CenCom, SS Platinum, 4200 etc.) so I have complete separation of my red and blue set-ups, and possibly a newer siren system...

Copy thanks. I have a 2012 that I was looking for a flasher for. Hesitant to use ZFlash or Speedturtle.

I actually made my own "No-Splice" HLF... Pretty much plug-n-play... Makes it so much easier when switching vehicles (as long as they use a 9005 high beam LoL)

Still Wanting/Needing:
- Some kind of "mirror light" There is a HUGE dead spot in my side warning... LoL
- Second control system/siren Possibly a CenCom or some other siren/controller (ideally, something with a power call tone). Just so I have complete separation of my Red Warning and my Blue Warning.

I know you mentioned that you can't sync the ILS with any of the other lights, but are you able to do more of a half/half pattern in the front? I feel like you're getting more of a flicker than a punch and while it looks good up close you're probably sacrificing warning power at distance. I know you mentioned wanting grill lights with a large footprint so I assume that distance is something important to you. Just my 2 cents, otherwise a very nice package you put together there.

I have all 3 modes for the ILS bars hooked up:
Mode #1: Basic "wig-wag" pattern
Mode #2: Fast "center out" pattern (Video in Posts #1 & #20)
Mode #3: "Cluster" type pattern (Video in Post #7

They all get used at different times, those were just the modes i happen to put the slide switch to...

** Update **

Well, lately I've been plagued with some issues with the Durango... So it looks like once I get it back from getting fixed (again) I'm gonna start the tear down, and start looking for a new to me vehicle...

ALL of my stuff will be coming out... And now that I'm thinking about it, there is A LOT of stuff to remove... lol

To Be removed:
- Gamber Johnson Full Console
- Power/Ground/Ignition Distribution Blocks
- Feniex 4200 Which only has 1/2 the outputs working due to something shorting out in the brain. So I'm on the hunt for at least 1 new(er) control system
- Remote Mount Motorola CDM-1250
- Sho-Me Undercover Siren
- Sho-Me Full Function Siren
- FedSig Blue Valor (90% sure I'm going to sell this, no I will not shit it. Pick up or meet somewhere not too far from NEPA)
- 10-75 License Plate bracket w/ 2 Red/White Feniex Fusions
- 2 Red Whelen Linear 500s (grill)
- 2 Custom Feniex T-300s R/W/R (rear side windows)
- FedSig Front ILS, red custom split
- FedSig Rear ILS, red
- 2 Feniex Cannon 180s, red in tail lights
- 2 Feniex Cannon 180s blue/white in reverse lights
- Custom "no-splice" Whelen HLF
- 2 Siren speakers
- Whelen ULF 44
- All added wiring/cables
- And I'm sure I'm forgetting some stuff... lol

Well, started the teardown today...

280563611_1198290277648823_8961745793143630360_n.jpg
279410798_991617651495704_4754415399090090388_n.jpg
279648101_1130163961095917_7493139076077708376_n.jpg

Items removed (so far):
- Valor w/ Cables
- Front ILS w/ Cables
- Rear ILS w/ Cables
- Rear Side Custom T-300s with Cables
- Motorola CDM 1250 Brain
- U/C Siren Amp & Wiring
- 4200 Brain & Wiring
- ULF-44
- Power/Ground/Ignition Distribution Blocks
(Not back for a couple hours of work before coming to work... lol)

Still To be removed:
- Console
- 4200 Head
- Sho-me Full Function Siren
- CDM1250 Head & Mic
- VHF Antenna
- HLF
- Grill Lights
- Feniex Apollos w/ 10-75 Intersection bracket
- The rest of the wiring
- LED Reverse bar

Then I just have to put the factory center console back in, and put the chrome grill inserts back in... I also have to get a set of tail lights since I drilled out the twist/lock area of the reverse light to install LED HAWs, and since there is also a hole in the tail light section for those LED HAWs... lol

Its strange to see the Durango without the Valor on... Its been on there ever since I picked it up from Travis... LoL

Got the Respond-A-Laser finished up at work last night. Wired it to a ciggy plug and threw on a set of 120lb Poly-Coated mags. In retrospect, the 120s are probably overkill since I almost broke the lightbar itself when trying to adjust the bar and get it centered... lol

I'm not gonna lie... It looks pretty dang good up there... lol

285106691_760832838692200_1968296447528299299_n.jpg

And of course, a video...
