Awesome!

This thread would be so much better with a video!

I adhere to a strict "no video" policy because I hate flash pattern poo-pooing by folks that do not have all of the info as to why it is what it is.....plus, videos NEVER can do justice for what it really looks like in person.

Just photos my friend!

I always like your installs for the obvious reasons (you do a great job) but also because you tend to use a good deal of Tomar. I don't want to hijack, but any word from them in terms of new products or any other updates? They've been quiet lately...Thanks for sharing the install with us.

I have no need for lights anymore but that hasn't stopped me from (almost) considering driving from MS to LA to get my Jetta decked out by Sean. As always, OUTSTANDING work! :hail:

Very nice as always. Quick question, is the stinger synced to the rear of the Scorpion? One thing that bugs me abit about deck/hatch lights and lightbars is the competing flash patterns tend to make everything a blur.

The Stinger is not sync'd to the light bar for a couple of reasons...the biggest reason is that the two aren't syncronizable, and second is the Stinger is wired for Traffic Director function independent of the Scorpion. I do have a very simple "inside/outside" flash pattern set on the Stinger to prohibit it competing against the random pattern by default Scorpion flasher.

TOMAR is debuting the Stinger this week at Firehouse World Expo in San Diego, and are also showing the Stinger Beacon. We have a Ford Interceptor Utility Stinger in the works and I know Tomar is working on interior windshield light bars that will feature a new LED technology. One more thing I'm working on that will utilize TOMAR LED light heads is an exterior mounted rear window bar for pickup trucks. It will be vehicle specific. That's about it.

What's that light (white) mounted facing the interior on the rear hatch?

The interior is awesome, the lighting...TOO MUCH! Without seeing a video I can't comment on the flash patterns and rates, but too many lights confuse and disorient - not what you want when coming up behind a driver, or having one approach you when your stopped. Also, I don't know the law, but some amber to the rear might be a good idea to break up all the blue.

I'm excited about this news, but I'm also a bit concerned. Is there really a large market for "vehicle specific" applications? While the Explorer/Police Utility is new, the GM SUVs are in their final model year. The custom application for those will drop dramatically. Now you're mentioning a version for pickup trucks. The F-150 is going to be "all new" for the 2015 model year; the GM pickups are rolling out their new generation this summer; and the RAM lineup is undergoing minor revisions as well. I have a GMC Sierra with low miles, but it's already going to be two generations past by this summer. What about us? I think it'd be a good idea if these vehicle-specific products have "plug-n-play" modules, where you can transfer them to either a straight stick or to another vehicle-specific product, to reduce the cost upon a change in vehicles.

I'm like the info about Tomar employing new LED technology for their interior windshield lightbar. Perhaps this'll be available in a straight stick as well?

I do enjoy seeing your installs, especially the Tahoes! Always a great looking install. I do have two questions. #1 what brand and model are the red/white interior compartment lights you have mounted in the rear roof area of the lift gate? #2 when you install the lights down on the running boards, where do you run the wiring? Do you drill into the rocker panel area near each light for the wiring or do you run the wiring all to one point to enter the cab? I have always wondered how installers do this and I am looking at putting in some running board lights on our supervisor Tahoe at work. Thanks!

Kevin, vehicle specific applications are actually becoming the rule and universal applications are becoming the exception. These days with PPV offerings becoming smaller and smaller, mounting real estate in these vehicles is becoming a premium. Universal applications were fine for large bulky vehicles with lots of windshield space, but today's PPVs have such a limited "field of vision", anything universal (read: bulky and obtrusive) mounted in front of the driver becomes an obstacle and a danger to the officer....even cameras and radar antennas.

If you notice what's going on in this industry, it's all about what fits the vehicle the best and what makes the best use of the space given. Consoles, Push Bumpers, Partitions and more are all becoming vehicle specific due to vehicle size and space available.

With what I'm working on, the Tomar Stinger for instance, if the department changes from a Tahoe to a NGPI Utility, I can sell them just a new Stinger housing for the NGPI Utility and they can transfer the Tomar LEDs, flasher and mounting hardware to the new housing. I can't speak to what other manufacturers are doing in the same situation.

The pickup truck rear window version I'm working on will be a design where the mounting is vehicle specific, but the main light is the same. I'm also working on a "Stick" version as well, but demand dictates supply and it has to be a viable project to justify the cost.

Stay tuned for more Tomar Scorpion LED module products from me and Tomar....they ARE coming!

ahh....I don't mind the criticism or opinions....I just hate having to justify why something is done the way it's done or why the patterns/colors/positions are the way they are. Many times I agree with the critic, but most of the time the customer gets to say what patterns and colors they want on their $13,000.00 install....ya know?

So, I just stay away from videos.....
