2014 Chevy Tahoe built for the Operations Chief in Loveland, CO.

Slick top fire vehicles... We usually try very hard to talk fire departments out of them, But this vehicle is not for an everyday main response unit. It will really only run on very very hot calls, or be used as a backup if they happen to have 2 other full light bar vehicles go down. Its main purpose is to be a take-home vehicle for a division chief that uses it more to get all over the state for training, conferences, and whatever else opps chiefs do as well as visit the fire stations, haul some people around, etc...

Equipment:

Federal Signal:

Spectralux ILS - Dual color, All red, all white

Impaxx 620RW - Dual color perimeter lights, red/white, X6.

Micropulse RR - in tailgate, only on when up.

SSP3000 - Smart Siren and lighting controller

ES100 - Low profile Cast Speakers, x2

Opticom - With interior mount housing from Fed sig.

CN Signal Master - dual color red/amber

Feniex:

Cannon hideaways - dual color red/white, front housing, rear backup lights.

Cobra 400 Sticks, In side windows

Ram-Mounts:

Laptop base and pole

Havis:

Dock for a Panasonic Toughbook Tablet.

Motorola:

APX 7500 dual band

Kussmaul:

auto eject

Progressive Dynamics:

45amp power converter/charger.

In house build "trickfit" harness system with printed wire and ultrasonic welded connections, There is not a single butt connector in our wiring harnesses. All lights are connected to the system using Deutch connectors.

All white lights (except the cannons) and the opticom shut down when in park.

We REALLY like the off axis output of the Federal ILS system. There is almost no loss of light when walking 180 degrees around the truck. In my book that is fantastic for an Interior light bar.

All Impaxx are SYNCD. It is hard to tell on the video, but every other one alternates.

I love it! You guys always put out top notch installs. The only thing that bugs me is that the customer had you do a rapid split pattern on the cannons & did not go with a HLF. Otherwise, I can't complain, and (even though a lot of people don't like front chevrons) I love them

I'm not crazy about the patterns, and it looks as thought the impaxx on the front fenders are point at this sky. However, I think this is a magnificent install. Top notch work.

What are the traffic & clear buttons on the SSP3000? Also, does left and right ally activate the side impacts?

Flash patterns are a little fast for me, and there's a reason they are hard to tell they are synced.

Flash patterns are a little fast for me, and there's a reason they are hard to tell they are synced.

TRAFFIC: OPTICOM

CLEAR: TURNS ON CLEAR WARNING,

However both are inhibited in park.

The impaxx only have 2 inputs, so I can only do EITHER a red/clear pattern and solid burn white, do a red pattern and solid white OR a red flash, then add white flash. if that makes sense. we wanted to be able to have a red flash, then a red/white flash and although I could have done what you want with and external flasher, I am not going to add another external flasher just to get a mediocre alley light... besides, room for other equipment is very limited. We hid everthing behind the rear diver side panel, including the ssp3000, fuse blocks, relays, timers, auto eject, and charging unit...

Very good looking Tahoe. I do not see an issue with slick top fully marked vehicles for FF command staff. And it has some nice factory options being a retail Tahoe.

Very nice! AND good call adding the info about why it's a slicktop. Guess you've seen install threads go bad quick. "Guess he's sneaking up on the fire."

One of the nicest Tahoe install videos I've seen on here. I'm good with the rationale for slicktop on this one. Obviously not sneaking up on anything in a red Tahoe thats clearly marked and chevroned with r/w lighting. All that slicktop concern tends to be when vff have plain white/black vehicles that can be confused for LEOs (especially on areas that use blue for vff and other nonconventional reasons).

My only minimal negative would be the lack of side lighting when compared to the amount on the front looks a bit uneven. Throw some rocker panel (under doors) in and I'd give it 10/10. (Not that there isn't sufficient lighting there. Just a visual balance thing.

Exactly my point... Slicktop lighting should only be on unmarked and PD traffic units. I don't mind unmarked FD vehicles, especially when they are take home cars, then a lightbar wouldn't be needed. But when you have a fully marked vehicle with nothing to hide, why not have a lightbar. It adds great 360 warning and with a marked unit you have no need to be stealthy.

Shrug. Wind noise? Gas mileage? Personal preference. Why's it matter? He's got plenty of lighting and isn't posing as a cop. Be happy

How where the Feniex lights mounted in the side rear windows? Pics would be great. I am thinking about mounting lights in my Explorer like that but I am not sure the best way to do it?

We used the feniex cobra rotating brackets - part d-04309. Then just went drilled 2 small holes through the headliner and put a fenderwasher and nut on top. The rotating brackets are necessary to get the light level and it gives enough adjustment to make the light look straight even though the headliner angles. Here is one thing to note, the inside of the Tahoe's back side windows are different sizes (just look at the distance between the light and the body panels on each side), AND if the light looks straight inside, it will look crooked outside. So you have to level it to where it looks straight outside which in turn can make it look a little crooked inside. I think in the explorer the windows are the same size but you still have to play with "level" to make it look right outside.

these are the only 2 pictures I have of the sticks...

I absolutely love this install. I saw this on YouTube a few weeks ago and commented how nicely this Tahoe install was done, despite my opinions on slicktop fire command vehicles. As a service provider, the customer is always going to get what the customer wants regardless of your beliefs or views on the right way to do things vs the wrong way. This is one sharp looking vehicle and without a doubt one of my favorite Tahoe installs in recent memory. Well done - looking forward to seeing more of your work in the next few months.
