Bought this a few days ago. It was one of those where they made you buy something because it was ridiculously cheap? And it's kinda cool. So for $20 I picked up this Federal 371L Commander. This thing is in pretty decent shape. The dome needs to be refurbished but other than a little dirt this light in like new condition. It has a Par 46 200 Watt bulb that I hope never burns out since they run about $100 from Federal. It has a special connector on the back to interface with their connector. The bulb is tiltable so if it is mounted high or low the angle of the light can change to project where you need it. That's about all I know about it. It is 120v, so it's not a vehicle light.

Nice light. Is the base metal or plastic? I have strobe version that has a light gray plastic base. You can find bulbs for it on eBay although they may be floods instead of spot. You feel the heat from the 200 watt bulb

For $20 you did great. $100 just for a sealed beam bulb? Good reason for me to never buy one! I wonder if you can find the same bulb from one of the big bulb outlets for a lot less?

Based on one retailer's site, the 200-watt lamp appears to be marked GE 200PAR46/3NSP.

They appear to be available from several sources, some of which report that the lamp has been discontinued by GE and that they are selling remaining stock.

It appears to be an aluminum base. Definitely not plastic but non magnetic. Yes you can defiinitely feel the heat. That is why they usually come with glass domes. This one definitely shows a little effect of the heat.

Strangely by coincidence today. I watched a video that caught my eye and at the 20 second mark in this video there are two of these beacons mounted to a security gate.

I wonder if that adapter on the back of the bulb can be removed and put on another one. There are some on Ebay right now for $20, that's not bad. Probably ought to pick one up just in case.

Well here is a twist. All the documentation and catalogs say 200 W. The bulb holder is stamped with this. Yet it has a 150 W bulb in it, not 200 as I thought.
