Newer style is listed as interior/exterior mount.

The older style came in two versions. One had a cable with multiple wires to power the unit/change flash patterns. This one was able to be exterior mounted. The other version had a cigar plug/pattern switch on the light. This one was interior mount only.

no... they arnt sealed

Of course they are. ALL of the new ones are made the same; the only thing not waterproof is the switch and you can cut that off. Just be aware if you do, you may have warranty issues.
