What I like about all of the siren sounds is that none of them are high-pitched.
Hate to self-promote, but hop on over to the thread about the Japanese PATLITE teardrops and Clarion siren. I've posted some videos of the sirens used on their kyukyus (ambulances), as well as common police sirens used in Japan. All police sirens use a great simulated mechanical tone.
