I messaged a seller on FB marketplace back when I first decided to finally take the plunge into the ether.
Never heard back, and forgot about it, then this week I get a message asking if I still wanted it.

Took about 1:30 to get out to see it, and since it was smack dab in the middle of Pennsyltucky there was plenty of a whole lot of nothing to keep me occupied.

This was sitting on a Tanker that is to be scrapped in a few days. Most of the insides were already gutted and this bar was pretty much the only thing left of any real value.. IMO.

Not in terrible overall shape considering it probably was the original bar for the Apparatus in question.

Starting off..

Lenses are in OK shape overall, probably nothing a wetsanding and a polish can't fix up but that comes later.

Started to tear things apart and cleaning. The motor reads 5 -85 SAE tag also reads 85.

Then the inlaws came over.. and that killed any motivation I had to keep going. Gonna try and wrap this up tomorrow if I can avoid a HoneyDo list.

Nice job on the cleanup! What did you use (besides the quart of elbow grease)?
Simple Green & Water. Multiple brushes.
Magic Eraser

I ended up using the usual CRC Electrical Contact cleaner and a wire brush to clean up the copper plates and brushes.. Green can stuff I can get a pic if you want it.

And to wrap it up, I decided to use the CC lenses I had in storage from another bar. I also swapped in 2 Red H7600 lamps cause I had them just sitting around.

With everything off cleaning is much easier and everything did clean up pretty nicely. Overall the bar was in pretty good shape for something from 1985.

And for the video folks!

I am not sure if I am going to keep this or not. I have multiples of this type of bar already, so who knows.

Has anyone ever tried trimming off one end panel each from 2 full height cascade mirrors and mounting them back to back for the full flash front and rear?

Federal Signal had uni-directional, full height, 2-panel cascade and 3-panel cascade mirrors for the Aerodynic. The 2-panel mirrors are easier to find as they were common in the wrecker/tow truck bars. 3-panel mirrors were available, here is a video showing an ADL with the 3-panel uni-directional mirrors. Be sure to turn down your speakers, the person who did the video felt inspired to give it a hard rock guitar music score.
