There is an Aurora Borealis available on eBay right now, and the auction number is 200480550287. It needs some restoration work but looks pretty decent overall and the current bid of $127 has not reached the unknown reserve. It's not mine, just passing along the info, since these are hard to find.

It's up to $225 and the reserve is still unmet. Looks like it needs heavy cleaning and polishing, certainly nothing beyond the talent I know exists among our members here. The Aurora Borealis is always a trophy item, regardless.

you can say that again. It just needs some TLC

I haven't seen mine in over a year!

F**************************k. Why does this stuff only come up for sale when I don't have the $$$ for it?

up to $378.33 now..

reserve still not meet..

I know the seller and I have seen the light in person. It is all there it needs alot of help The motor is shot and the chrome is flakng off badly, if someone can get it restored its a good deal.

I guess this seller knows what he (she) has got if it's up to $430 and reserve not met. Too expensive for my taste, but watching none the less!

OK boys and girls...prognosis is good for the light, but it'll take a lot more cash after the sale price. It may be improper wiring to the motor that prevents it from operating, regardless, it can be repaired at a good motor shop. Even though it appears someone got carried away with the axle grease in an attempt to quiet the beast (and they do sound like your grandmothers Maytag: woosha-wonk-klink, woosha-wonk-klink), the plating can be redone requiring serious change (you could always paint the base till you collected enough recycling change). IMHO, even at $500, it's a buy. I would be in, but I already have one.

Think the motors shot maxim.

The motor is the reason it was removed from the fire engine that it was on. It was cheaper to just remove the light and replace it than to fix it at the time.

Looks like it got pulled by the fleabay Police

Typical.

His tenacity is admirable. He also has a couple of Unity RV46 domes listed in other auctions. However, I'm bidding on his cap assortment auction, since there is a Whelen logo cap among them, so back off those everybody!

UPDATE: I won the caps, and the Whelen cap fits great! The others are available for FREE if anyone wants them, just pay shipping.

Hey respondcode3, if the auction gets pulled again, see if your acquaintance will quote a buy-it-now price offline and/or post it for sale here on elightbars. Considering how many people here are interested in getting one of those, no matter the condition, I'll bet he gets his asking price for it.

$565.55 so far, and reserve not met!

...with over 4 days left in the auction!

BTW, I won one of his other auctions that had the new Whelen ballcap. Anybody remember the crap I caught on the old forum when I wanted to sell a used Whelen ballcap??

$811.00 with and hour ten to go

I gave up at $550.00

We all know how rare these are and when an acquaintance told me about it, I looked it up. (Just do a search under MARS light). On looking more closely, I discovered that it was a very late model 9000 series with only four bulbs rather than five. There are several differences between this bar and what is truly considered an Aurora. The one on ebay is really an AUrora System. It has the injection molded lens rather than the vacu-formed lens as the original. The most obvious difference is the center light which appears to be a back to back rotator. The original had two forward facing red bulbs that slid from side to side while wigwagging slightly. The rear light just wigwagged about 30 degrees. Check it very carefully before bidding.

Holy dead thread revivals batman!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

D@mn it, I thought this was a new thread for a second. I thought I was going to be able to get my hands on one. $hit :sadcry:

Here's an auction for a model 400 Aurora system:

Never really seen this type with two end oscillators and a center rotator. Pretty cool, nonetheless.
