Picked up a model 17 today. Seems to be in pretty fair shape. Internals are pretty clean. Plastic dome is ok. The skirt could use some love. I think I might of overpaid, paid 150 for it. it does spin without any issues and seems pretty quiet. Just need to get some bulbs. Currently there is a 4411 in there. Is the 4411 the correct bulb?

anyway here are some photos.

The 4411 is incorrect. Look for a pair of 4416 made by GE if possible.

The original sealed beam used in the Federal model 17-series of lights used the 4416, usually made by GE.
Any other type is user installed and wrong for the light.

If you want the light to be as original as possible make sure you install two 4416s.
General Electric might be a little difficult to get today but Wagner is a good substitute and a more common make today.

Very clean light, ooks like it was made in December 1963.. I have some of the Wagner 4416's and they work just fine. Just make sure they are smooth glass and not the textured. Gives it a different look when lit.

From the research I did on this site, I came up with December 1963. Found some 4416’s on Amazon and ordered them.

The intenals shown look really clean! Looks like original wiring too!
internals are very clean, wiring looks good too.

Definitely a good buy for $150. Take some 0000 steel wool to the chrome and then windex it off, it'll be shining in no time.
Did that tonight. Might need to take some more time, but definitely looks better. I’ll post some pics.

Very nice shape, and full, uncut base.

Thank you!

That actually looks NOS. I wonder if it was ever mounted.
I’m wondering the same too. I’m leaning towards that it probably was mounted. If you look close at the mounting holes you’ll see there are rings from the bushings.

Excellent job with the steel wool. I agree, maybe go over it again, but the difference is still night and day.

I will, I kept going until the Skirt felt smooth. There is some pitting, I’m going to do some searching on the best way to take care of that.

I think $150 is about right, considering the skirt is uncut. Most 17's have the skirts cut to fit roof curvature that was prevalent on cars and trucks of the 1950's-60's.
